For memory, yes! SSD space can be helped with cloud storage or external storage for things you want to keep long-term.

Macbook air with 16gb should be plenty considering the work loads you can achieve with passive cooling. I have the M4 mac mini and running cities skyline i use 11gb and WoW i use about 9gb tats quite intensive workloads so 16gb is still running smooth.

@@newyorkcityabductschild It sounds insane that they "are running low on both memory and disk space". For the kind of tasks the Air is made for, both should be more than enough, maybe with an external SSD. Otherwise, get the pro.

Hey Craig. I started with Netflix at $7.99/mo. They played a lot of old hard to find b/w movies. Fun movies. They are obscene with price increases and most of their original content is of dubious quality. I just cut them off.

Been following the developments around those Chinese 2TB SSDs for the Mac Mini too. The prices are dropping fast, there is a YT vid from a company owner/dev on the $300 2TB SSD from M4-SSD talking about this product. Comparable SSDs are also available for less elsewhere as you note. Reverse engineered modules using components from unknown sources. Expect them to be under $100 soon. Difficult to have confidence in the quality of components used or the QA process in general and unwilling to be a beta tester by cracking open my Mini at this stage.

I just wonder if anyone considered Apple’s decision to put M.x chips into iPad’s first as a beta/debugging move before moving them into their other products. It would seem to save money and have a way to publicly test the chips in smaller numbers (I assume) than mass market it with a provable buggy design.

15:00 Great video content as always ... however, i disagree on this (if true) that apple is hesitant becuase of SONOS. The interface totally needs a decent refresh that makes it look PROFESSIONAL. Cmon apple, at least offer a choice of skins for people at bare minimum. I totally DISLIKE the candy crush interface on a "pro" grade phone. Im a professional not a kid ... allow an update and the option to use it. You can collect all the stats to see whos using what and if its warrented to continue it!!!

That M3 in the iPad Air doesn't make sense knowing that the M3 costs more to manufacture and they had quality issues with it hence the reason why Apple wanted to move off the M3 ASAP on every device. Unless they have a load of chips in stock they need to use up I guess.

I normally buy the base models which are great values. Yes, adding more stuff is not great (like when you add ram, ssd). I recently got the M4 Pro Mac mini because it saves me like 100 hours per year so I figured that was worth it for my channel. That is the only time I move up for the base model.
