The gameplay is basically a improved version of FGO, and unlike fate, MagiReco had a Pit Counter and gems are much easier to get, if you spent 100 rolls with gems in a single banner the 100th roll will be a 100% guaranted 4* character, 4* is the max rarity in the gacha

Define good. It's definitely more casual-friendly than Aniplex's other gacha game, FGO. Upgrading girls still takes time, especially if you just started, but it's definitely easier considering that very few girls use finite resources (and these girls are always event-limited in first place), everything else farmable. And let's not forget you actually have an auto option to have AI take over for you. It might not be as complex but it's not necessarily bad.

I plays both games, and believe me, Magia Record is waaay better than FGO. The gacha is more forgiving, the animations are top notch (Especially the transformation scene), the bgm are pure epic (Just listen to "Cross-Connection" and "Event Challenge" bgm). FGO only strong point is the story, which MagiReco also good at.

In case anyone is still confused: this game/anime takes place after Madoka becomes a god in episode 12. It’s set in an alternate timeline/universe that is an anomaly (basically it shouldn’t exist) caused by Homura’s constant time looping. Madokami can not interfere with this universe or see its future which is why witches still exist. The Madoka and Homura in this story are them in a different universe/timeline. This is before Rebellion, as Madoka is still the law of cycles.

Not sure if this Dopple thing is related or meant as a unintentionally connection but wouldn’t this be exactly what Sayaka and Nagisa did in Rebellion against Homura’s Witch? When Sayaka summoned Oktavia and Nagisa borrowed traits from Charlotte. Since they pretty much came to terms with their despair and would allow them to have access to their Witch Forms.

I always thought of those two as having reached a "paradise" created by Madoka for the magical girls who become a witch. It's possible that the only way Madoka can interfere in this universe is to create this sort of loophole for despairing magical girls so they don't die as witches.

This would be far less disappointing if we haven't been waiting 5 years for a sequel to Rebellion. That concept trailer got everyone super hyped, but that was years ago and we've gotten no word since then. What's also disappointing about this is the fact that Magia Record has no North American release and we have no way of knowing if there will ever be one., and the prospect of one doesn't seem too good since none of the prior games have ever been released here. Don't get me wrong, I'm not upset that they're adapting this into an anime, but the handling of the Madoka Magica ip hasn't been the best since Rebellion's release, at least in North America. We haven't gotten any of the games, and while we have gotten most of the spinoff manga, to the best of my knowledge we have yet to get a translation of Wraith Arc which is arguably the most important since it bridges the gap between the main series and Rebellion.

Homucifer conquers the Universe and forces everyone to live happily ever after, whether they want to or not. Maybe this is to gauge the interest for the franchise and potentially to raise funds for the sequel to Rebellion. I wouldn't go so far to say I am hyped, though I am looking forward to it. I found it funny when people accused Gen Urobuchi of lying because he said he'd do his best to give Madoka a happy ending. I think he was honest in a way. Compared to Fate/Zero for example, Madoka's bitter-sweet ending is very happy indeed. ^^

I have never had the opportunity to play the game (because Japanese and shit) and neither did I search for summaries or anything (I like to come to anything without previous knowledge of it). I heard your description of the prologue and... holy hell, I think there's an even bigger motive to make it an anime series (aside from money related or building up hype for the sequel to Rebellion). Well, since they have the ability to summon their witch form (and allegedly we will see the witch form of Kyoko, Mami, and Madoka in action [we have already seen Homura's and Sayaka's in the movie]) I think they could tied up those things into the sequel of Rebellion with everyone being able to control their witches form without affecting the pace with any explanation (we already have the basis from this series). Plus, the "fairies" mentioned in the Concept Movie Trailer might just be some of this magical girls which they will introduce. Mmmmm... fuck I can't wait for more.

@MahouShoujo Maisoon my issue with that idea though, is that they can't possibly have all of the possible meguca from the game involved in the show, otherwise we're left wondering how the hell there are enough grief seeds for all of them. And while it's fair to let the quintet go, and your complaints about the ships fairly valid, they left off with a fairly ambiguous and shaky ending in rebellion. Then they only exacerbated the issue with the release of the concept video, which appeared to promise some kind of finale to the madohomu arc. Although I may hate homura after rebellion, I find your comment about other meguca suffering more than her slightly overblown. And I would love to see some kind of resolution to the story as a whole.

I think what they’re doing is, to see if people are still on the madoka hype train and if this adaption of the mobile game is good, then we can probably see the concept movie/ a sequel to rebellion

Am I the only one who feels like Madoka lost its magic? I really enjoyed the original series but everything feels like fan-service to me after it... where as in the original show, it felt like an intentional misdirect... now everything is over the top fan service for no reason to be since the true nature of the show was already revealed.

I am hyped that Madoka is back! Although I'm a bit disappointed that Nagisa isn't back, (Got the Waluigi treatment.) she had potential but whatever. Iroha seems like she would be an interesting character and the other girls look fabulous! I didn't expect Magia Record to have this many magical girls but I am ready for this!
