excelerater EXACTLY. The problem, or non-problem depending on how you look at it. Is that Glock has already topped themselves with their early designs. Everything that has come after is a downgrade in one way or another for not that much added benefit (Glock 19x, 43, 43x, 45, and 48 come to mind). It just baffles me that they’ve release 5 brand new standalone models within the past 3 years that are essentially pointless if you already own a Glock 17, 19, or 26.
@pappaclutch3266

Slow down there buds the 43 (original) does have some use. Say you have to dress nice for a wedding or church or maybe your in your basketball/swim shorts chilling, perhaps you want a slim tuckable gun or a ankle carry, maybe you want to carry a gun where it’s not allowed.. like a job site and have to dress professionally. The 26 for me fits 95% of anything I want to do but the 43 (original) does have some merits and it’s certainly not useless.

pierce grip extension +2 baseplate (very low profile) has been around for many years and they are very reliable and inexpensive. looks similar to ur new magpul 12+1 mag the O.G. glock mags tend to last and not.warp i prefer the glock factory mag then a +2 pierce grip extension and ur good to go with 13 rounds of 9mm.

OEM baseplates are an option, but Scherer and Pearce +2 extensions have been out there a long time too and look/feel a little better IMO. I used these for years on my G26 and never any issues with reliability. They also made it possible to solidly grip the gun with your pinky, too, unlike these which look a little short. To be fair, everyone's hand sizes are a little different, so YMMV and whatnot.

To me it's not whether you can load a fully loaded mag into the gun with slide closed, it's how much room is left in the mag after it's loaded to capacity. Like you said, when the mag is inserted into the gun, the top round will be depress down a bit by the slide. That means there must be some extra room left in the mag for it to function properly. I tried the PMAG 12 GL-9 magazine in March of 2017, around the same time you did. When the mag was loaded with 12 rounds, I absolutely could not push the top round down anymore, even for 1mm. Yes you could shove the mag into the gun and it'd latch, but that only meant that the plastic components were deformed and bent to accommodate. After I loaded the mag into my G26 like you did in the video, I pulled the slide back and chambered the gun, then I ejected the round to inspect. A groove had been gouged into the casing. This is not a true 12rd magazine. I returned it.

To be 💯 secure, I'd suggest only using OEM Glock mags: ccw, defense, police duty 🚔. I own & use a few Magpul 9mm Glock types: Glock 26, 15rd 9mm, 17rd 9mm. They feed & cycle about 98% of the time. Regular 9mm ammunition.

I like the Magpul Glock magazines, I own some Magpul Glock 17 mags, but for me I use them for training and I carry factory mags. I have had no issues with them and I'm sure they would be fine, I just feel more comfortable carrying factory. You can buy a pile of them for pretty cheap for training mags though.

Lot of praise for a completely untested magazine. There is a reason Glock started metal lining their mags, I have two original unlined mags that came with my first Glock. The longer they sit fully loaded the more they swell, lol. I have tried several of the mag extensions on the 26 and have had a cheap one pop off while firing and dump the mag. The ets mag I tried didn’t function well with any extensions even the factory Glock one. Had to file the sharp edge off the Pearce grip not to pinch and cut skin. When Glock factory mags with extensions became readily available for around 30 bucks it was a no brainer. I have 2 magpuls for the Glock 19 and they are “good” but unless you are buying them by the dozen, pay the extra for a “great” factory magazine.

This is the problem with ALL G26's. Look where your ring finger is,.....directly on top of the last finger groove hump. People say it's a 2 finger grip....it's not even that...it's 1.5. Just get a G19 mag with an X-grip sleeve. 15 rounds baby!
@Billfish57

I like the +2 base plate way better because when drawing the weapon, I can pull it out of the holster way easier with that extra inch on the grip, I can shoot fine without that extra grip length but for reaching, grabbing and pulling out my gun fast, fast, fast, every time, I need that extra length. When seconds count, often tenths of a second count a lot, and that grip extending is necessary for drawing my gun in about half the time of stock or this aftermarket mag you have here. When I reach for a second magazine, I want a big increase in round count, sometimes going right to the 33, and that is what makes the G26 the best canceled carry gun around, still. BTW, that 33 stick will fit in my blue jean front pocket no problem, and when using it, I don't let me pinky touch it, I shoot with just the two finger grip, you shouldn't cock that long magazine at all when firing, just let it hang there and don't press on it, just to be sure of proper feeding.

I carry the G26 with a 15 round magazine from GLOC. Being a subcompact, I found the out of box gun left my pinky finger sorta hanging off the bottom of the grip. And I have a smaller hand. The 15 round magazines, IF you can find them, work perfect for my hand now. All the while maintaining a perfect fit for my conceal carry holster.

In one steel competition this past October I had 2 failures from two different p mags in my G17 and two other teammates had at least one each both using Pmags that they opened that day in their G19's. I recommend these as well as ETS for non essential activities especially training where your dropping mags on the ground like crazy but to keep me and my family alive and breathing I'm sticking with Glock Factory mags that can easily be found brand new for $19.99 each. The theoretical force known as gravity has no bearing on how the magazine falls out of the gun. The mass and weight of it does. That’s why the aftermarket mag seems to hold up a tad longer, it’s lighter in weight as you noted.

Pretty nice. Now you're only 2 rds under a G19 mag in an easy to carry set up, not that a 19 isn't easy to carry, but, nice just the same. The mag looks nice and I like how it fits the bottom of the grip. I run Glock 2rd extensions on my 27 so I can have 10+1 which gets me only 2 rds from the 23 mag capacity. It also allows me to get my little finger on the extension since my XL hands aren't as muscular as your meat hooks. I hope that they make a G27 version soon, picking up a magpul mag will be way cheaper than a Glock factory mag and then springing for an extension.

I ordered one of these and it came yesterday. I love it. I wasn't sure I would because I'm not a fan of the Pearce. But the magpul is designed and shaped differently. It is hardly any longer then the factory 10. Only complaint I have is the spring is super tough. It was so hard to get the 12th round in, I swore I was gonna blow the bottom plate out. I left 11 in it and am going to check today when I'm home from work if it softened up any. The 12th round went way easier into yours. I have very strong hands and fingers as I'm a plumber and use my hands all day long with 24" pipe wrenches. I'm worried if mine might be defective somehow. I was able to chamber a round with all 12 in it.

When I returned home today the 12th round went in with much less resistance. Still difficult but not unrealistic like when I tried yesterday. I guess compressing the spring for 24 hrs was enough to break it in a little.

You can't possibly get those extra rounds for free. I guess the spring will tire out much, much sooner. Handguns develope, when it originally had a feature, that was changed later on, that usually means that they improoved it. So more metal in the Magazine is most likely better. Glock uses polymer where it makes sence, they tried with the mag but changed. later on. I don't really like the Looks of it, but it's for conceald carry, so i is technically less important.

Extra length to the magazine is not a detriment to the Glock 26. To the contrary, it adds stability when gripping the pistol. I added Pearce grip extensions to all my factory magazines for this pistol because I didn't like my pinky finger just dangling in the air. Plus, it allows you to run factory mags. If I want more capacity, I'll buy Glock 17 mags.

I've got a pmag for my G26 and it makes all the difference in the world.. It's hard to explain how different it feels now I use the factory ten round mag for pocket carry but when I get home I now use the pmag instead of one of my 15rd G19 mags. I traded for this G26 and some mags including the pmag and am glad I did the pmag would be worth the investment I believe anyway that's my $.02. good video buddy...

Glock has had the 12 round magazine for a long time. Magpul just came out with them. I have some of them for my Glock 19 and my Keltec sub 2000 second generation Glock 19 configuration. They work flawlessly. Magpul anything is well made and very reliable.

I just run a factory original g19 mag with an xspace spacer. My back up mag is a g17 mag with an xspace spacer. I get 32 rounds. I used to run two spare mags and a g23...I don't think i am going to be getting into too many gunfights and i figure that one spare mag or 33 rounds total should be enough to take care of one or two assailants or to break contact. The 26 with the 19 mag in it is still shorter from mag to top of slide than a g19. Or i just carry my g19 with a g17 reload...
@sly2792004
@sly2792004 7 жыл бұрын
The idea is if a mag fails you drop it and get one of your spares and if it fails you still have another.. We carry for the slim chance of being attacked, doesn't seem like a stretch to plan for other slim chances, like mag failure or prolonged defense situation, like the post hurricane looting happening in Texas. 19 with 2 17 mags is my carry.

The extra capacity is great. Most Folks never will do a tactical reload under stress. Your first Magazine will be it. I'd rather have the two extra Rounds. I would have like to have seen you load a Round in the Chamber and then topped off that Magazine but oh well.
@xj53pq7
@xj53pq7 7 жыл бұрын
Personally I think its way too stiff fully loaded. It makes loading the mag on a closed slide more difficult to do reliably, and it makes me wonder how well the second round is going to feed in a 12+1 capacity. Will the extreme pressure of the round on the feed lips slow the slide down to an unreliable speed? One pro that I have found is that the extended gripping surfaces makes drawing from concealment much easier.

Tyler Clark if you leave yours fully loaded, has it seemed to break the spring in some? Mine got much easier after leaving it loaded for 24 hrs. Still kinda hard but not near as bad as it was from new. H4T's seemed to load much easier then mine from new.

@DeathxThexKid100
@DeathxThexKid100 3 жыл бұрын
Technically, but it uses a 10 round mag with the oem extended baseplate, which those are rather bulky. I personally think there's no reason to add extra rounds to only have the downside of less conceal ability. The same goes for the pinky extension. If you're adding a baseplate/pinky extension, just carry a glock 19. With the 19 you get an extra 3 rounds for barely any additional length at the rate your destroying your 26's ability to be concealed. Otherwise, stick to the 10 round mag as is and get a glock 17 mag as a carry backup.

galamonkey I have 17, 15 and now 12 round magpul mags. Mine have a production date of Jan. 2016 or newer. I haven't shot this new one for the G26 yet but my others all run flawlessly. Never had a single problem from any of them. I have 6 or maybe more with hundreds of rounds thru each and not a single issue. The only thing I do notice is the feed lips have worn slightly on the inside of the mag. Not bad but slightly. Eventually this is where the mag will fail. Being all plastic eventually they will break or wear away. But eventually all things break. Nothing lasts forever. For the price these mags can't be beat. I purchased some of mine for as low as $10.

galamonkey MagPul discovered a problem right after they shipped the original G19 mags during their rollout. They reported it to the public and offered to replace them all. I have 100's of rounds out of my MagPul G19 mags without a malfunction. I think the reports of problems are still floating around from the old mags.

I have a 15 rounder that isn't metal lined and the bullets will all shoot out if it's dropped so I never use it. Even banging it on my wrist like you did would throw at the bullets right out. That mag seems tight. Try dropping it and see if the ammo stays in the mag. Mine was an after market during the Brady Bill.

"Now the original mag is going to fall better out of the gun, I believe, just for the fact that there's more weight... But any time you have more weight, of course, something, gravity's going to take effect and do it's part." Interesting take on physics there. I wonder if Aristotle, Galileo, and Newton would take umbrage with your assertions.
@ILruffian
@ILruffian 6 жыл бұрын
They might, but Leo DaVinci might agree with him. This is more than a straight projectile motion problem. While increased mass will not cause the mag to fall faster, it can definitely help overcome any static friction between the mag and magwell that may be holding the mag in place. Taken with the fact that he said that the mag would fall "better" and not "faster," I think that he gets a pass on this one.

@ILruffian

I get that someone made a post demeaning to the video creator, implying that he does not understand basic physics (because all objects fall at the same rate regardless of mass). And yet, what the video creator said could very well be correct, as the above does not hold true until the mag no longer has contact with any part of the mag well. If I'm being an ass for defending the guy against an unjust insult of his intelligence, so be it.

So 2 more rounds in a magazine ("no brainier", "boost") means?? - a 10 round mag. is not enough?? - will 13 rounds make a difference?? - is a 5, 6, or 7 round revolver is inadequate?? - will you fire 5, 6, 10, 12, rounds in a handgun for self defense, legally?? Bottom line is the "extra rounds" for practice is fine, but in actual real life shooting *the 1st two or three rounds are the most effective* in self defense incidents according to street data. What the main purpose of +1, +2, or more mag. extension (with their spring problems) is to make more money for the gun industry, period. Sorry, but that is the facts.
