Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan attended a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday morning for a 180,000-square-foot, $30 million Sakthi Automotive Group manufacturing facility in southwest Detroit.
The facility is part of a larger campus, which will include the redevelopment of Southwestern High School and the former American Mailers Building.
India-based Sakthi is an industry leader Tier 1 supplier of safety critical components to most of the OEMs, including GM and Ford. The facility will create 350 new jobs, including some for returning citizens.
