I can't get enough of the sound of the B202. It reminds me of a Boxer motor.

Someone said that on IG yesterday and I can’t get it out of my head now 😂 it definitely has certain rev ranges where it gives off that sort of sound

As James may once said, “RTFM. Read the f*cking manual.” It sounds nice. I like the warbles of old 4 cylinders. I wish there was a way to make a 9-3 sound like that.
@AutoAutopsyКүн бұрын
It’s a bit of a bummer because it’s so hard to make modern four cylinders sound good. I am pretty happy with the Maptun system on my 9-3 though

Man, i really miss all of my 900's.... That exhaust sound is such a unique and nostalgic thing... I mean, the 2,8 V6 has a nice tone too, but all the saab's own 4-cylinder engines just have that very distinct note. Never heard it anywhere else.

100%! Very unique. The 2.8 V6 sounds good too

For the tip fitment, you could cut the pipe after the muffler to allow the tailpipe to seat further in which should allow for you to get the look you want.

To me they both sound about the same on video and both sound pretty darn good. Still nice to have a new exhaust without the giant hole in the bottom. I agree the tips need to be cut. I know this is a DIY channel but maybe a muffler shop could do the cut for you. Very cool car, a keeper.
@AutoAutopsyКүн бұрын
Thanks! Watching the before/after, they definitely do sound similar (which isn’t a bad thing since I liked the sound before). The new exhaust is a bit quieter while cruising which I’m really happy about

I visit the exhaustfactory every once in a while and they manufacture them in smaller batches depending on how much they sell. They used to make bigger batches so that alot of company could have alot of them on the shelves. The end pipe is designed to fit the flatnose bumpers.

Exhaust is made by swedish exhaust manufacture Simons and not by Maptun. And the cause of the tip beeing outside the bumper is that the exhaust is made for an flat nose 900.

Hmm. I see on their website it says it can fit slant nose models like mine

Apparently no one in the comments knows exactly why the sound of the Saab 900 Turbo is so unique. This is due to its exhaust manifold with four paths of unequal length in front of the turbocharger inlet. If you replace the manifold with a manifold of the same length to achieve faster charger response, the bubbling 900 turbo sound disappears. The exhaust you purchased is originally from the Swedish company Simmons and was made for the older version of the 900 with larger bumpers. Therefore, some adjustments are required and the tips need to be shortened. Unfortunately, due to the different materials between the tailpipe and the part above the axle, it is starting to rust. Stainless steel meets normal steel here and corrosion-promoting galvanic currents flow. Unfortunately, the silencer also rusts quite quickly - but the sound of the system is nice. Enjoy it!

Thanks for that insight and information on the unique sound. 😁🙌🏼

Very nice sound on those engines. Strange that they stick out so far out. On my 900 Aero back in the 80s i hade Saab original sport exhaust. They where more staight at the back. Think i have a picture of it somewhere. I miss my 900, maybe i sell my 9000 Aero. 😎👍🇸🇪❤️

Always use montage paste when assembling. The tips should be shortened a bit, this looks cheap while I'm pretty sure it isn't.
@AutoAutopsy13 сағат бұрын
I have heard some really bad/mixed things about exhaust paste, so I’ve always avoided it personally. I do wish they could be shortened. It’s growing on me more, but if I get tired of it, I’ll probably take it somewhere and have them “professionally” shorten it so it looks nice
@TheBTG88Күн бұрын
Could you not cut the exhaust tip from the end that fits into the system and thereby be able to shorten it without cutting the visible end?

Unfortunately not, given how it’s shaped and where the hook hangar connects. That what my first thought!
