The only base that colour have are the primary colours: red green and blue. Like, orange is a tertiary colour, if you take all the primary secondary and tertiary colours between red and blue (with yellow and green included) it's more like: Red(1) - Orange(3) - Yellow(2) - Chartreuse(3) - Green(1) - Spring Green(3) - Cyan(2) - Azur(3) - Blue(1). Does Yellow seem to be in the middle for you? With your cherry-picky method I could say that Cyan is the true middle ground between Red and Blue.

I actually had a dream a while ago where Nintendo did reveal a new member of the Lake Trio named Theiry the Individual Pokémon. It’s said to be the Pokémon that gave humanity its autonomy and unlike its siblings that typically preferred to stay in their homes (Mesprit only leaving theirs after you interact with it), it’s more of a world traveler, seeing the world and collecting little things in its classic traveler style bundle it carries around. It’s name was based on the naming conventions of the first three being an identifier than some sort of Fae (Mesprit is Me-Sprit which is a kind of fae, Uxie is You-Pixie, Azelf is Us-Elf, so Theiry was They-Fairy to match) and it had the aforementioned bundle it carries along with but also a green helm with part of it covering one of its eyes. If people are interested, I’ll leave a link to the art someone made of that Dream Pokémon.

With Enamorous, all 4 members of the Kami trio represent the 4 Auspicious Beasts. The Lake Trio are built on the idea of Ethos, Logos, Pathos. After looking into it for a bit, I found out there's a fourth pillar of rhetoric called Kairos. Ethos ties into Azelf, Logos ties into Uxie, and Pathos ties into Mespirit. I think it's realistic to assume Kairos can tie into the fourth member, and seeing as how Kairos is usually associated with context or timeliness, the fourth member could the Being of Urgency.

Hear me out, the beta Legendary for Silver as the 4th Legendary Beast. It looked like a steel lion. It may have been steel/dark. My theory was it was going to be the leader of the legendary beasts while Ho-oh would be the birds. Or it would still fulfill Lugia’s role and lead the birds as a fun twist. But now that it’s a scrapped design, bring it back to be a steel or dark Legendary Beast. It has to be mono type like the others. I think a new regi would make sense. Regigigas is awakened via the hoenn regis as keys, and that shows on the 6 dots on its body taking their colors, 2 for each original regi. Now that they've added 2 more regi, the lights still just show the hoenn regis. It would make sense ro add one final regi that unlocks a greater form of Regigigas without the slow start ability, making the spots glow in all 6 regi colors. Maybe the final regi was so well hidden away in an attempt to stop the true form of Regigigas from ever awakening, but now it is needed to stop a greater threat, like a kaiju battle.

I Norse mythology there is the world tree, Yggdrasil, which the nine worlds reside on/in. Xerneas is possibly based of four stags the live the trunk of Yggdrasil and eat its branches and roots. It could also be based of Yggdrasil it self. Yveltal based of the hawk or eagle that sits atop the tree. While Zygarde would be dragon/serpent at the bottom of the tree eating its roots. Each of Zygardes forms may also represent Loki’s three monstrous children. Also there’s Squirrel Ratatoskr who carries messages between the eagle and dragon/serpent.

The lake guardians are based on the CMYK color scheme and the parts of the soul Azelf (azure elf) is Cyan Mesprit (magenta sprite) is Magenta Uxie (YOUxie) is Yellow The fourth part would start with K and be black, representing the shadow. Let's think about this critically: SwSh gave us new Regis, so Regicorn is highly unlikely. It also gave us Galarian Bird Trio, so strike them too. Legends: Arceus gave us a new Force of Nature (Enamorus) SV gave us Paradox Beasts and Paradox Swords. So for group Legendaries, we're down to the Tower Duo (Ho-Oh + Lugia), Eon Duo (Lati@s), Weather Trio (Groudon + Kyogre + Rayquaza), Lake Guardians, Matter Trio (Dialga + Palkia + Giratina), Tao Trio (Zekrom + Reshiram + Kyurem), Aura Trio (Xerneas + Yveltal + Zygarde), Guardian Deities (The Tapus), Light Trio (Solgaleo + Lunala + Necrozma), Legendary Heroes (Zacian + Zamazenta), and Treasures of Ruin. I'm gonna cross out the groups who's games have been represented already, which leaves us with Lake Guardians, Matter Trio, Aura Trio, Guardian Deities, Light Trio, Legendary Heroes and Treasures of Ruin. I'm going to disregard both the Treasures of Ruin AND the Lake Guardians for 3 reasons; 1. They are both tied to a quantifiable thing: their Locations (the lakes and shrines). 2. Both have very recent games (Legends: Arceus and SV) The latter reason is also why I'll disregard the Matter Trio (also there isn't really a fourth part for matter trio work with [space, time, antimatter and ...?]) the Legendary Heroes (also the fact that you'd have to retcon the tale of the two brothers for the legendary heroes [although I'd love there to be an Armour or Crown pokemon...{i only now realize why the dlc were named that way 🤦‍♀️}]) Speaking of retcons, that's why we're going to ignore the Light Trio. (also, again with the "not teally having a fourth part") We should also ignore the Aura trio since this is their region we're returning to. (even though i love your interpretation of a potential fourth and really hope it'll happen) That just leaves us with... The Guardian Deities! I feel like this is also the easiest group to add a new pokemon to, story wise. (Something something colonizers taking native items home to museums something?) Even with them being tied to the islands, there's still enough vagueness in their history to play with (also I'm still of the firm belief that Akala Island should count as 2 islands anyway) If you don't want to count the Paradox Beasts and Swords as new forms/legendaries (which is fair) I think you could make an argument for an addition to the Tower Duo (since the Swords are still disqualified because of Enamorus, and you can't add a new Beast without retconning their initial creation) but since they are based on real mythological beings that are already set as a duo, it might be difficult.

I actually have 2 box arts that are part of the lake guardians being responsible for both hope and despair. The despair one actually created the treasures of ruin as a beacon as it was responsible for the fall of the ancient paldean kingdom. Also slight spoilers for bug fables but the human form of the king looks like the wasp king.

The Golden Dragon is kinda implied to be the Original Dragon/Kyurem One of the big details most point out is that the Genies don't match the Colors that they represent, but instead have it as a Gem in their bellybuttons (with only 1 exception iirc). Kyurem also have something similar, a yellow crystal in the forehead, which he doesn't lose even after fusing and the intro to B2W2 made emphasis on it. Yellow also seems to be the go-to color for GF when making God-like Pokemon, which the OD sure as hell was. Arceus is pure yellow and white, with some green for "jade" (that gem had divine connections in some mythology) The Primals were made of a pure yellow energy with a Red/Blue shell covering them. Ultra Necrozma is straight up pure yellow shining nonstop. And all we see inside Kyurem is also Yellow, not just the Gem and eyes. The claws in it's arms/legs are crystalline and see-tru, and the inside of the body is yellow. The same is also true for the crystalline spikes at the end of it's wings (the things that shoot the beams to force Zek/Resh into their Stone Forms) The general consensus is that the OD was prolly Gray (representing balance between both Yin and Yang), but with Golden/Yellow details (most depict the wierd Icy-things in the fusions as golden and metallic, the shoulder things and leg blades)

I feel like if they made a new legend for the kalos trio it would be more of a mythical since we already have life, death, and the balance of both a third would kinda. throw that balance off which was the entire point of x/y’s trio if we do get a third it would have to be separate and somehow manage to find a new thing to represent outside of the core stuff (which wouldn’t be too out there considering. enamorous is like. love? or something? when the genies are all forces of nature? idk they didn’t pull that off well imo)

I think the Legendary groups that deserve a fourth member would be both the Legendary Birds/Beasts. They both could fit a fourth member in them. For example, a fourth Legendary Beast could be a Dark Type that represents the night on which the tower was struck.

There was a theory yeaaaars ago about the Original Dragon being a possible 4th member of the Trio or related in some way to them Mainly cuz the games hint at a connection between the OD and Sinnoh/Gen4. PLA also added fuel to that theory.
