I enjoyed the video. As far as the song, it sounds like it would be on Load or Re-Load but just a bit edgier. Unfortunately I don't see anything new here but then again old isn't bad.
@philipwhelan142 жыл бұрын
I love that it has that loose feeling like they had in Kill 'Em All but it's still tight and has no excess padding in the song. I like that Kirk's solo is kind of atonal and unexpected for the song. Nice Motörhead-type ending too \m/ New unexpected Metallica? What's not to love??!!
@Fister_of_Muppets2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. This song fux. And that riff is in standard A tuning, just like some songs from Kill Em All, thrashy, a throwback with a fresh modern sound. If the rest of the album is even close to this, we are in for an amazing treat.

Oh, Mike… you don’t actually think Lars nailed this without stitching together parts from a ton of short takes, do you? He didn’t. Long story short, Lars won’t play this song anywhere near like this live. Not a chance. This is beyond his capacity because he has a massive ego and thinks he’s so good he doesn’t need to practice or improve.

I really like Kirk's solo EP this year. I thought it had some of his most interesting, thought out music that had a cinematic flair and atmosphere. His soloing was good, tasty and told stories alongside the other music in there. Id actually love some of that style to show up on the new album. If theres an instrumental on there for instance, some of what we got on Kirk's EP would really give it a different flavor.

The old school references throughout the song are great, and I especially like the Diamond Head quote from Hetfield when he bellows "Lighting the Nation". Its got a Hit the Lights energy with Hardwired's production and approach. Energetic, enjoyable and an easy song to put on and instantly get a rushing vibe. I fully expect the upcoming album to have lengthy, epic driven songs that will work well with sorter bursts of light like this song.

@@JassyPabst I get bored easily. I have the same problem with Hardwired to Self Destruct that I have with Rodrigo Y Gariela on their 11:11 release, if I am listening to stuff on random play any individual track that comes up I am into it, if I listen to the entire CD from beginning to end I start to feel like it's a little repetitive. Even Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Vai can get boring to me if I listen to their CDs from beginning to end too much in a short stretch.

They used the exact same bridge riff as Hit the Lights about 2/3 the way through just at a slower bpm, it’s pretty clear that Lars’ drums were grid synced, and personally I found the Hammet solo pretty lacking.
