This is great. The algorithm actually worked in showing me this. I'm in the planning stage of an Adult Red Dragon's Lair Diorama/Scatter Terrain and have been rewatching some older Lava Tile, Volcano crafting vids. This will be the method of choice now. Thanks.

Dude, that's badass, probably the best lava terrain I've ever seen.

Thanks, dude! I had a blast creating that lava terrain.

The very slight translucency of the glue works really nicely with the combined colors!

Thanks! I was very happy with the look of the slight translucency as well.

This is freaking aMAZing. The effort to results ratio is out of control with this method! Brilliant!

Thanks! Yes I agree, really is a fun build as well.

I have been needing a lava river for Stargrave for a while, this seems like a decent solution.

I built a really big lava board last year and I used hot glue but I use clear glue and then put different colored inks over the top. It took quite a bit of time to get the coloration right and even some of it didn't look all that great and I really wish I had had this technique back then as it would have saved me a ton of time. I will have to try this in the future.
@ArtJeremiah9 ай бұрын
It's definitely worth a try. It saved me a lot of time in the end.

do you think the colored glue sticks would work for other liquid terrain pieces? for example could the green glue stick work for a liquid sewer element?
@ArtJeremiah9 ай бұрын
I think that's a good idea. Especially if you were going for a thicker look and wanting to avoid using epoxy.

I would add some dry brushed black on some ( just a bit) to shown some of the cooling lava as it hardens... Just a thought.. Looks great though, give me an idea for the next set I make...

This is pretty awesome man! But have have you tried more elevated terrain like actual mountainous volcanos? I think the flow effect will look even better!

Yes, I have done that and it looks really good.

If you have the time and money, pls experiment more using hot glue to make liquid like rivers and sewers. Can you melt a stick direcly with that torch?
@ArtJeremiah9 ай бұрын
It's definitely something I would like to experiment with more. You definitely can melt a stick with a torch, though you have to be careful not to light it on fire or it will blacken and release chemicals in the air.
@aaronbono46889 ай бұрын
Try a hair dryer or heat gun, it will probably be slower but will not as easily charged the glue stick.

I think maybe it needs a little bit of the black crusty Earth to simulate the hardening rock that usually floats on lava. Maybe that would be enough to finish this off and make it look really incredible.
