I was born in Alabama but lived in New Mexico as a child. Our parents were Southern Baptist Missionaries to the Navajo Indians. We came home one time and went to church with my Grandmother in Birmingham. Me and my sister were introduced to the Sunday School class as children of foreign missionaries...no joke. One of the teachers asked us if it was ok to drink the water there. We replied yes, because we had city water. Another teacher asked if we had to have a passport to come back to the US. Still another asked if learning to speak the language was hard. I said no to both questions, "because New Mexico has been one of our 50 states since 1912." They looked confused.

Oh...my...GOODNESS! Have any of these people EVER taken a geography class in school? No Social Studies? Seriously? This from an average student back in the day, okay?! Who doesn't know that New Mexico is an American state? Wow! Maybe it's because I always loved imagining visiting and/or living in different places that I know this, but it really does surprise me that there are people who just don't realize it. Look a map, for crying out loud! And we're now in the 21st century! Go online and just look it up!

A RIDICULOUS amount of people think we aren't Americans. Was talking to some people on a travel enthusiasts board, mentioned that I would love to visit Washington State and explore the forests and then spend time in Seattle, and more than one person replied about making sure that my passport is in order. *SMDH*

I moved to San Antonio and started working in a restaurant here and I constantly rant about how the shyte they call chili (jalapeños) is the hottest they have. I told them "spend a week in Albuquerque during roasting season and tell me different." I was born and raised in the North Valley. Vikings stand strong!!! But the Chili stands stronger!!!!!!

I told her it was just because it was easier to spell and pronounce for other people and she screeched "WELL I CAN'T SPELL SANCHEZ!" that sounds like a you problem, carol. one of my cousins on that side also refered to new mexico as "y'all's fuckin country" so there's just no hope for them.

Lighten up. I’m going to be one of those senior visitors in a couple of months. I grew up in a mostly white neighborhood with Europe legal immigrants. Loved it. Now it’s very different. Many illegal Mexican, Central Americans. I might not like the change, but change is inevitable. And I don’t like change. This video, to me, was hilarious. My kind of humor.😂
@daniellozada34084 жыл бұрын
That’s what the natives said when illegal immigrants from Europe invaded America. “We don’t like the change but is inevitable”🤷🏽♂️ May God bless the Mexican-American community because is the fastest growing community in the USA

The greater problem is that some New Mexicans don't understand why they are thought of as a banana republic, in bred, or a century behind the rest of the Southwest. All the other SW states have thriving economies, low unemployment rates, and many things to do. There is a bias against whites and outsiders whether they want to admit it or not! A lot of outsiders who come to work at Sandia or Los Alamos, or the military bases are here for those opportunities. Too dependent on the Federal government with a small private job market. Albuquerque has declared itself to be an immigrant friendly (sanctury) city. It wants to be like CA but doesn't have the money. If they raise taxes too much there will be a mass exodus. The Democratic state legislature doesn't spend its tax dollars with much wisdom or skill. High crime rate in Albq. It's been a tradition since I've been in the area - over 4 decades. Too many transients and poor uneducated residents.
