I grew up in Tucumcari just a few blocks from the Blue Swallow back in the 60's. I am appalled at what Route 66 looks like in your video. Back in the heyday route 66 was lined with thriving businesses from one end of town to the other. At night the neon signs were plentiful and absolutely beautiful. Now I live in Texas. There were gusts up to 90 mph here in the panhandle yesterday. Thank God you weren't in a hot air balloon.
@JamesBlackburnExperience3 жыл бұрын
The Blue Swallow is a cool place.. You need to come back to New Mexico and contact a local like myself and we can share how awesome this state really is. The Balloon Fiesta usually launch almost everyday for the 10 day event. We usually don't have mega winds like what you experienced. The weather here is not bad most of the time.

Hey Eric, try looking up the hot air balloon stuff in Temecula or Perris, CA. In the summer here in Menifee where I live I see hot air balloons going up almost every Sunday morning. They take off from the Perris airport. They even have sky divers almost every weekend from the same airport. You mightcwant to look into the hot air balloon festival in Temecula, CA.

It was very windy here in Wisconsin, lots of overturned semis. If you would've gotten onto any balloon, we would have never seen you again. Maybe it'll work out another time. Love seeing shots of Opie - he is certainly Precious! Enjoy and be safe!

Eric you should come to Temecula, CA. I live near there and they have hot balloons that go up just about every morning. Plus there's a balloon and wine festival in the summer. Lots of wineries around here, and dispensaries 😉 and casinos. I know where the quirky is too. My neighbor Riccardo Breceda makes these giant metal sculptures of dragons, dinosaurs, snakes, etc. and a bunch of his sculptures are near Anza Borrego park. There's also a few RV parks around here. It's really pretty in the spring here before it gets too hot.

I remember as a child having a yellow table and chairs just like that one, although smaller, in the Mid Point Cafe. By now I’m sure you’re thankful that hot air 🎈ride was canceled due to horrific 100 mph winds. You’d have ended up clear back on the eastern coastline without the kitties. 💨

I have to laugh. In the 7s I was temporality stationed at Alamogordo. I was in a motel with my Sargent. Being from GA, he was always saying the NM sucked. One day he yelled to look at the TV. Too late for tree? Not really -- it used to be a tradition not to put the tree up until Christmas Eve --- the 12 days of Christmas BEGIN (emphasis, not yelling) on Christmas day. Advent (the time leading up to Christmas) begins on the Sunday after thanksgiving....Its actually a penitential time, not celebratory. The party begins on Dec 25'th.... Remember...Christmas (Christ's Mass) is a religious holiday, not secular. It has obviously been extremely commercialized in the past 100 years. :(
