Thanks very much, Wild. I appreciate the comments. I started playing guitar in the 1967 and started listening to the Butterfield band. I've never actually sat down to learn Mike Bloomfield licks but I listened to him so much (especially "The Live Adventures...') that I "hear" his licks as I play. "Westside" is great but I think "Blues For Barry and..." from Two Jews Blues is his best.

Thanks, David for inspiring all around the world with your playing and lessons. You are by far the best Bloomer out there. Don't ever stop playing... and now for the almost impossible task. I can't wait till someone capture "Blues on the Westside" which I think is Bloomfield's magnum opus. It's got nearly every Bloomfield lick in it and I think perhaps the greatest pure blues solo ever.

hey man.... that's really great that you put that lesson up here.. I LOVE MB's playing - tone phrasing building tension... everything all put together... I'm gonna learn this ... hope Mike helps me...

Great lesson! Just dug out my 1963 Tele after getting inspired by this video. You really have captured the essence and style of MB 😎

Sounds like the licks from Carmelita Skiffle. Your tone sounds like Michael's and that's great!

Not really, although I've certainly listened to that song A LOT.

I'm so grateful that somebody like you who's really studied Michael can give away some of his best tricks. I never realized how much he loved full slides. The opening to this video sounded just like Mike was back with us again. 1 Question: are you playing 9 gauge strings? "I Wonder Who" from the "Live Adventures" LP has just about the best opening blues riffs I've ever heard. It's still my go-to song for slow blues. The play along sequence is magnificent!

Thanks so much, Jeff Mike did use sliding quite a bit - up and down. I do use "9"s. I used "10" for years but as I got older I needed a little help. I remember reading years ago that Mike used a banjo string for the high e because nobody made 9s in those days.

Where did you down load the backing track for this great lick?
@TheRabbi038 жыл бұрын
I make my own backing tracks - mostly with loops and my own keyboard and bass I haven't made them available because they're not really very good

gotta admit, takes me right back to the Cafe au GoGo in 1960 whatever. got to see pbbb sets couple times a night a bunch of times. Life changing. Thanks for the nice guitar work and respect. Now, go out and get yourself an old Tele !

Thanks so much, John. I've got a bunch of Tele's. In fact, if you go to my "album" on Soundcloud soundcloud.com/davidrabinow/sets/an-instrumental-tribute-to most of the songs use my Custom Tele made by Falls Rock Shop in Cleveland. But I actually play more of Bloomfields style from the later 60s when he was playing his Les Paul

Yes, David, I did notice your choice of licks , but those shows at the au GoGo were like seeing him in your livinig room. Left an impression. Caught him at the village theater with the Flag playing a Paul( p90's as I recall ) and listened at the fire exit door to some of the al Kooper sessions, what may have been called Filmore East by that time. Nice growing up In NYC. glory days. Keep rockin'. I'll check out your link. Thx

The section eith that big bend sounds like Freddie king. Probably Mike took it from him haha
