@@frankvizzi4617 not sure. They use Affirm, which allows you to pay over 12 months. Affirm is available on most instrument seller sites. I do lease my cars. It’s very cheap and I get a new car every three years. But, I love my current car, Hyundai Ionic6 SEL, that I might want to buy it at the end of the lease. I’ll have to take a loan that will probably cost me $400 a month. Compared to my lease which is $287 a month with $3,000 a month. Finally, when I made this video DZPL guitars were in line with Mexican Fender guitars. And the DZPL were better. Now they’re in line with Fender US guitar. . The comparison favors Fender now. The Tagliere has some cool features but the quality of US Fenders is better. My Fender Ultra Jazzmaster has pretty much all the features of the Taglieri and is remarkably well made. I paid $1900 in ‘21. I think it’s $2,200 now.

Thanks Barry. I’ve done five of these videos. In chapter 5 I show a little decline. But the truth is, the piece I play as the baseline is actually pretty easy for me since I’ve played it so many times. The one lick going to the IV looks pretty cool but I use that lick a lot and there’s a lot of muscle memory. My next chapter will be in October / November and I think it may not sound as good. As of late, I’ve found it more difficult to play certain things. On the other hand, I play an hour or more every day and it’s great therapy. I’m also eight years since the onset of PD and I think I’ll be able to play reasonably well for another five, six, seven years. Hang in there, the diagnosis is really rough. Get as much as you can. Aside from family, I have a primary care doctor, a psychologist, a psychiatrist, a movement disorder neurologist and a physical therapist. I take twenty something pills a day. And so far every time I’ve developed some kind of new symptom or problem, there’s been a solution.

I’m not professional enough and I just do it for fun. I do lessons and product reviews when I buy a product that I really like. I had instance where a guitar company sent me a free guitar in exchange for a review. I said ok, but I’m gonna be honest if I don’t like it. When I got the guitar I didn’t like it and sent it back. I really didn’t want to do a negative review. The number of hugely positive reviews review of the Spark 40 stunned me. I think most KZbin gear reviews are generally honest. I’m sure there are a few that are less than honest and I think if you’re making your living reviewing gear you’re going to be a little biased. I’m guessing that if a particular reviewer gives to many negative reviews he’s gonna start losing sponsors.

The 100 is probably a better deal. It’s only a couple of pounds heavier - still potable by a guy with back issues. It’s $100 more but, as you said, it comes with the foot switch. The foot switch option on the 50 is $99. I don’t think anyone needs 100 watts these days. F you’re gigging in venues where you need 100 watts, you’re probably doing well enough to have a decent PA and can mic the amps.

Thank you for posting this. I’m getting back into playing after 30 years and have dug out my Strat and Ultra Chorus. I wanted to purchase a modeling amp with all the neat features and started with the Spark40. It didn’t work right out of the box. I went to the help forum, but that has been offline due to “maintenance” for days. 🤔 Luckily for me, many people have the same issue and identified it as a bad input jack. I then noticed all the online reviews about poor build quality. Many users have problems with the unit after 1-2 years due to failed components or blown speakers. By that time the unit is out of warranty and Positive Grid’s customer support is nonexistent. Makes sense since they took their money and ran. Looks like they put all their effort into the smartphone app. Looks like the GTX50 is right for me. It’s too much power, since I don’t gig. But I’m most interested in playing the blues so modeled Fender amps are what I need. Thanks again for the non biased review.

Thank you, Daniel. Peter Green’s version of The Stumble was the first blues song that really blew me away. Green and Bloomfield are the only blues players of the 60s that hold up today. We lost both of them way too soon. I’m going to try to make a video of Bloomfield’s playing on The Work Song. After 56 years I’ve finally figured out what he’s playing. Unfortunately, now that I know what he’s playing, can’t play it. Combinaton of age and Parkinson’s disease makes it impossible to play it at the 160 bpm of the original. So if I can get the video done it will be in slow motion. Funny thing is, I always thought was playing mostly in Dorian mode. In fact it’s almost all in F minor. He uses the G note a lot which gives it the dorian sound. He does play the changes. Something no blues players were doing at the time.

I used the clean amp with everything at about 12:00 - the drive a closer to 2:00. On the pedal board I used their compressor and their overdrive. The I added EZTracks slap back delay and reverb. My Strat has Lindy Fralin Steel Pole 43 pickups and a blender pot to allow me to combine the neck and the bridge in different degrees. The p’ups are designed to sound like P-90s (kinda). I used mostly the bridge with about 50% of the neck. And BTW, I loved the tone too. I wasn’t thinking of doing a video until i got that tone.

With all respect I don't think that good about those guitars. I have custom angraved tagliare - 2016. I did found more issues on my guitar: (and I looked a lot of videos about them and can see that new ones are no much better) - cheap tolex venir case - not real tolex as on Fender guitars - locking tuners are too long and you have to wind them as normal tuners (2-3 times), because otherway the strings don't have enough angle. (strings D and G - E and B have string tree) - on video you can see that neck does not have tight fit on sides. On my tagliare is even worse than that - because they have engravings on back of the neck, they glue the fingerboards the step from heead to upper fingerboard is too high compared to fender. - imput jack is cheap and does not have enough angle as on fender - pots and switch are cheap - fret work is deacent Conclusion: For that price range the guitar should be better. They can't hide that guitar is made in asia. You can not compare that guitar to 1000€ and more priced guitars.
@TheRabbi03
@TheRabbi03 4 ай бұрын
I found the quality above average. Remember that $1,000 doesn’t get you a premium guitar anymore. Mexican Strats are close to $1,000 now. Epiphone has several guitars well over $1,000. The pots are Bourne, which are not cheap. I like the back of the neck but I’ll admit that it’s not for everyone. I didn’t get a case, so I can’t comment on that. He doesn’t make it clear where the guitars are made, except that they are not made in the US. My guess is that the necks and bodies are made in Indonesia but are assembled in Chicago, where they assemble the parts and etch the necks. I have three of these guitars. Two of them were virtually flawless. One was not. The third one had a bad grain match in the three piece body, a volume pot with a terrible taper. And I had to set up the intonation - I’ve had to do this on Gibson and Fenders sometimes. It’s interesting that he’s now selling loaded pickguards and necks as aftermarket upgrades for Strats.

@@KVANTdoo You're right the prices have really gone up. I think I paid $1,200 US for that one. And the wiring which he now calls ATW was completely custom. I like it a lot. I'm 71 years old. But my favorite is my 2010 Mexican Strat with Lindy Fralin Pickups and some of his trick wiring. I've replaced the bridge an the tuners. When I got it, it was just too shiny so I pulled out my brand new Dremel tool and sanded the whole guitar (except the head stock) until it didn't shine any more. As to the tremolo arm, Fender sells these little springs that you drop into the hole for the arm and it’s make the arm perfect for positioning. I don’t know why they don’t put them in every guitar. I don’t remember if they were in this guitar or not. I sold it and have regretted that since. As to surf, it’s probably not the best choice. These pickups are noiseless and in the process they took some of the brightness away. If you’re going for that real surf sound, I think one of their vintage models would be a better choice. And the Squier Classic Vibe Jazzmaster is a great guitar for pretty short money.

Catching up on your videos since my 1st comment on your part 1. Like your mentions in this one I had the same random cramps including ones in my hands where one or 2 fingers would cramp up to where my fingers would distort and I'd have to pull them apart and straighten them with my other hand. But those went away after I got on the CL & my playing got better & when the meds started failing to halt the progression I decided I really needed to record myself for the first time for posterity in June of 22. By the end of 22 I stopped recording due to issues. Then after little playing, I got the urge to play & caught lightening in a bottle on 3/5/23. I've since developed numbness in both thumbs and index & middle fingers for which I 'm scheduled for neck surgery soon. Not carpal tunnel. Anyway I can't play hardly at all currently. But I have some videos of me playing that turned out beyond my dreams that I currently don't want to post for various reasons, but if there's a way to send you some google drive links or flash drive I will.

He was so much better than Clapton. Clapton is a very good guitarist but his blues always leaves me flat. I’m not a purist but your playing has to reflect an influence of your predecessors. I don’t hear that in Clapton and most of the British “blues” players with the extremely notable exception of all three of the original Fleetwood Mac Guitarists. It took me years to master Peter Green’s version of The Stumble and when I finally figured it out I can’t play it anymore. At 71 with Parkinson’s my speed is really off. As to the 3-6, Albert King (and SRV doing Albert King) did it a lot. Duane Allman’s solo on Stormy Monday does all kinds of ridiculous bends. In the second verse he’s sitting on the 2 and bending it extremely precisely to every not between the 3 and 6. One thing I forgot to mention in my video how precise Michael’s bends were. I’ve played his playing through a tuner in Studio One and he’s often out of tune, his bends are always right on. The best bender of all has to be Amos Garrett. He played in Butterfield’s Better Days and on the unbelievable solo on Maria Maldour’s Mightnight At The Oasis. In his version of Sleepwalk he bends the first phrase two to seven. I always assumed he used a strat with light strings and used the whammy bar for some his bends. But he actually uses a Tele strung with 11s.

David I want to thank you man. I came across your channel on the hunt for the perfect guitar. Im moving overseas soon and can't take all my guitars with me so I sold all but 2. As a reward for that I gave myself permission to get a custom shop guitar. My gal is an angel and even offered to pitch in. When I came across you demoing a Dean Zelinsky Tagliare with your wiring goosebumps went up and down my whole freaking body. The tone was heavenly and I knew that instant what guitar I was going to buy. I'm normally a rock n roll or metal guy, soft playing isn't my jam. Now I'm going to learn. My other guitars were all HH, except for one HS and your playing and ability to coax so many beautiful tones out of the Tagliare sort of singles? Hit me hard man. What you and Dean have done for guitar players with his pickups, neck design, building skills, and your wiring are easily one of the greatest innovations in the history of guitar. The generosity of spirit you showed by allowing Dean to use your innovation to get this ability into the hands of as many of us players as possible is just incredible. The way you handle your challenge is much like your playing man, clean, honest, subtle but powerful in a quiet kinda way. You're not hiding in a hole, you're standing tall as an example to help others dealing with the same challenge. Words can't express the respect and appreciation I have for who you are and what you do. Your playing is still amazing, you still give me them same goosebumps I got the first time I heard it. When I get my guitar from Dean and truly dial it in your name is gonna be coming up in the same breath as his because I want everyone to have access to these stunning sounds that you boys have made together as well as your part in the story. God bless you and yours.

John, Wow!!! Thank you so much. I love the Dean Zelenskyy guitars. And what’s so cool is you can call and talk to Dean. I have a new one on order. A Dellatara (Tele Style) with the same wiring and TruTap pickups, which he describes as a little more PAF like than the SideKick’s on the Tagliare. I will do a demo when I get it. I’m looking forward to doing the video as much as getting the guitar. The truth is, it’s probably gonna be too heavy to play standing up. Parkinson’s zaps a lot of strength of my strength. I have a great Strat that I can hold standing up but I would much prefer the Dean.

This man is 100% legit when he says he showed Dean Zelinsky the wiring for his high end customs. I placed an order at the shop. Dean handled it himself. When I asked him about this video and the man himself confirmed it. The package is called ATW. Thank you brother! This wiring is FAR superior to what comes from the Gibson or Fender shops regarding keeping the volume level. For anyone considering a high end custom shop guitar I can't Recommend Dean Zelinskys shop enough. If you learn his history his skills as a luthier are absolutely legendary. His custom engraving designs are stunning. Check out his paisley guitars, and his prices are darn right reasonable compared to many other bigger custom shops. What's more it is an actual custom shop... Just because it ain't on the website, doesn't mean it ain't available at a reasonable bump in price. I wanted something not on the list and Dean and I worked it out. Last thing I'll mention is when Dean called back to hammer out final details it was a little later at night and his employees had all gone home and he was still there running the laser to engrave necks. Trust me fellas that is the kind of man who will make sure you get yourself a guitar you will always treasure. I'm not a rich man, I'm only getting one custom guitar in my life. Dean Zelinsky's shop is as good as it gets.

Dont know what gage except his0.10 gage e string.most guys I knew like John Cippolina of quicksilver messenger service,chuggie otis,others used a 009 ,or even a oo8 .only problem is they broke! John Cippollina played beautifully . He is another underated guitarist.

There were a number of those SF psychedelic guitarists that were very interesting, maybe not technically the best, but really creative. Barry Melton, Sam Andrews, Cippolina, Randy California - I think was from LA. I have used .0095s ever since they came out. But since I developed Parkinson’s I just don’t have the strength. I even struggle with .009s sometimes but .008s sound really weak when you’re going for a clean sound.

WAS A TOTAL OF 42 PEOPLE TO SEE GRATEFULL DEAD AND QUICKSILVER!! I was 15, and of course we opened.cippolina is Italian, so he treated me like I was an equal,which I was clearly not. The banjo string thing comes from james burton, who played fot elvis and ricky nelson. Story goes he used a banjo string to get by at a gig. I am 71 and l never heard of anyone putting on a set of banjo strings. So strange how these stories come around.lts part of the cool guitar world, and there fun to hear.

Mike used Earny Ball 0.10 for the e high strings.very popular in the sixties. I think they were the only kind I used from 1967 until today.the banjo string is a myth. People had no choice because there were no light strings, enter banjo strings!, good job overall. But he did not soak in reverb,there was just enough to be audible.too much and it sounds like surf guitar! Where did you get your information? On elecric guitar he only used pedals once on killing floor .he used a vox tone bender. Vibrato is vertical or horizontal.for instance violin players use horizontal,most guitarists use both.his speed is awesome l and clean! Thanks for your presentation,much appreciation!

Well, Ernie Ball’s early sets were comprised of banjo strings for the E and B strings. Slinky’s (actually manufactured for guitars) were introduced in 1967. Bloomfield was already forming electric flag by then. As to reverb, listen to any of his quieter passages on The Live Adventures album. They are really soaked in reverb.

Oh yeah very few modern electric guitarist use the vertical vibrato. A lot of guitarists use it when they first start playing. And it was a signature of many of the psychedelic guitarists in the sixties. Bloomfield was the only guy I ever heard who could use them both on the same phrase. Another interesting thing about him was that he was often out of tune in live performances but his bending was always spot on. If he bent a C to a D it was exactly a D. I’ve actually played some of his stuff through a DAW with a tuner. It’s amazing how precise he was.

The rabbit is spot on. However live ,or on a recording are different.live his settings were 2 and one half. What they put out the record how much reverb is on it is up to the producer.l changed his strings once because of some medical problems.his reverb was a natural thing to check out being the lesd player for Jacob's ladder.l am 71 and he still reveals links l have never heard him play.my first recording l had a maestro fuzz tone for 29.95 and the engineers said they could not understand l bought it to distort!!,,!!! They said we can't get rid of the distortion on the line!!!this was1966 right after satisfaction by the stones,l think. Everyone got a sunn buzz,or a vox tone bender,or some battery powered unit.when your live your in charge of the final sound,although going thru the board the sound crew gets your sound or you fire them.my old sound man Bob stearns,worked with Crosby stills and Nash. Now he works for the Rolling stones.you just never know

Rabbit has to be a guitar player and older like me. How can he remember earnie ball strings? A guy just gave me a set for my telecaster and regardless of guitar,l used super slinking. Wouldn't surprise me if a e or a b string is from a banjo, as it would certainly work,but l have never heard of any one using them.like they say your mileage may vary.

Thanx for putting this on YT, David! It does convince me to go for the Les Trem on my HB custom. There’s not much else on putting trems on HB SGs. Your Blues playing is very good btw!

That guitar sounds awesome. How heavy is it? Are the frets stainless? Locking Tuners? How much did you pay?
@TheRabbi03

A lot of questions, Hugo. It’s 7lb 9oz, they don’t offer stainless steel frets. Locking tuners are standard and they are very good. I think I paid around $1,599. Check out my other video on my first Tagliare. It’s a pretty full review.

Yes, I did my best imitations to try to show how versatile the guitar is. I also did SRV in there. I didn’t change amp settings in between. I also do fairly decent imitations of Johnny Winter, Albert Collins, Albert King but I would’ve needed to make amp changes to do that.
