Lovely video Mary and so good to see salmon returning. In the late '50s/early 60s I went to New Mills Grammar School and as we walked overlooking the mills and rivers we would see the rivers flowing a different colour, one day red, another yellow, etc. from the dye discharges from the mills! No fish then,I suspect but so good we are now much more environmentally aware.Keep up the interesting walks.

Lovely video. The gorge at New Mills is so dramatic, the Archimedes screw by the salmon run is used to generate electricity as part of a community hydro electric scheme. I was there this time last year and it was raining cats and dogs. You can walk along the river to Hayfield then up on to Kinder Scout which makes for a good varied day hike.

Oh Mary, you have that special ability to capture such beauty, like when the old and the new marries and gives birth to new creations that accommodate our new way of life. The very cool artwork (mermaid in the windows, the salmon sculpture and the beautiful colorful boats), nature’s eternally awesome beauty (variety of colorful leaves in the water, gnarly trees on the rocks, birds flying by) yes all the makings of another great video. Thank you for taking us along. Always grateful for you. 🤗🙏🏻❤️

Hello Mary Mansfield. Just flicking through KZbin and found your channel and decided to subscribe to it, as myself have an interest in walking too, along with a bit of photography. Now that's enough about me for now lol 😂 Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for a lovely video, I myself really LOVE New Mills, it's such a nice little town or village not sure? I used to go to New Mills a lot, mainly to change trains from there to Buxton. But remember once deciding to do a bit of a walk while waiting for the next train back to Sheffield and thought to myself what a lovely place and did a bit of photography while I was there. But after watching your lovely video, I didn't realize how much is there too see, and how far the walk went. So maybe one day after this horrible covid-19 is over, I'll have to get myself on the train again and do the lovely walk myself. Just off the platform, there's a small information centre/cafe which doubles up as a small museum about the area and it's well worth a visit. So to all the people reading this post, I just want to say, what a lovely little place New Mills is. 😊 It's one of my favourite places in the Peak District. Anyway my lovely sorry for getting carried away with myself lol 😂 just wanted to say once again thank you for taking us on such a nice walk. Keep up the good work. Stay safe. All the best from. (Devon Boy) Mike. Ps. Now I've found your channel, I'll look forward to watching your other videos too.

I love going on walkies with Mary. This one was extra nice, for I like Traky boy, love old stonework. Especially when set next to natural stone. The musical pause for the gates "solo" was exceptional. Thanks Tink!

It's just so darn beautiful. For a few years I lived in Sicily Going to a private school and as we traveled about i fell in love with the rock walls. Boundary walls,and, in many places the stone, or" cobblestone" road ways !!! I was seriously impressed and spell bound by all the mason work every where !! America is such a young country really. The mason work in Europe, and else where, Really gave me a strong sense of the age of the places I visited and lived. Mary even tho it's grown over in areas it adds to the rich sense of wonder !! Love that walk way along the river ❤️😊 👍🏽👍🏽. Is that river open to private boats ??? Or in summer can one go swimming there ??? Oh, I don't want to 4get 2 mention the arches in the roads!!! Wow what work and craftsmanship 🤗🧐😍. Thank you Mary for the amazing walk !!!! B safe my friend & keep on rocking the free world ☺️🌍
@MarysOutdoorAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Traky boy. I doubt the river is open to boats as its quite rocky and they wouldn't be able to get passed the weir. I'm sure plenty of people go paddling there though - but its probably too shallow to swim. Hope you are keeping well 😊

New Mills seems like a kind of Tintern Abbey for the industrial age. The mills followed the same path as the monasteries. . .
