I’m right with Ben here, and I’ve wondered why it took 8 years to do something about that noisy, jerky Ultrex steering motor. Hopefully the steering motor is brushless too 😅! Great review, sounded more authentic than most all the other (paid) reviews out there. You’ve told many benefits, but saying a few drawbacks adds to your credibility. I’ve heard it’s heavy right? Any other drawbacks?

When stowing question. I like to pull my motor up just a little with the pull cable at times. I do this regularly when loading the boat up to leave the lake when I’m not using the big motor to load on to the trailer. When you pull it up a little can you still steer it and over ride the auto stow when it automatically turns the steering into stow mode? That way I can still steer a bit while lifting it up to avoid the motor hitting the trailer but still being able to move the boat forward and direct it on to the trailer.

If you have lithium dont think that eco mode will ever work.. only cause ill assume voltage is how it determines how much battery life is left... my minn kota shows 24v all day and when batteries die its done... its 100 percent voltage until it shuts off...

Can you replace the pull cable on the water in an emergency? That was easy on the Fortrex but very difficult on the Ultrex.

Owned several minnkotas with spot lock, all became noisy in the steering gear box and required gear box replacements to make steering back and forth to become quiet again. Sooo, my question is did they redesign the steering gear boxes, is the steering quieter than old design.

Yes they did, the steering box is a completely different design

Do I need a new Garmin Livescope bracket to mount to the new shaft design? Is it easier to pull it out of the water? I’ve broken 3 of the pull cables to pull it out of the water. A bad feeling when it happens.

You do not need a new mount just a slight modification and it is easier to stow and deploy
