Hey Andy. Just to let you know, a Rocket is an unguided propelled form of ordnance (Think of an RPG-7) but it is not always an explosive, it can be used to launch something into space. A missile is a guided weapon (it is strictly a weapon and not used for other purposes) it would use the same propulsion system as a rocket but it would be guided via laser designation, Heat-seeking probe etc. (Think of an AIM-9 air-to-air missile mounted on an F-15)

Andy, in real life a battery of HIMARS could over through most medium to small countries with a token ground force. Multiple simultaneous targeting abilities with hit a Dime accuracy. Model companies seen to be coming out with the world's militaries cutting edge vehicles. As much as I love the Shermans and Hellcats, panthers seeing this new stuff is exciting. Shows to me the industry must be healthy. Thanks for showing us all the new kits like you do. A lot of hard work for you.

The M-142 HiMARS is essentially 1/2 of an MLRS, same rockets carried, and mounted on a truck, rather than tracked, chassis.

When talking about weapons, a missle is guided and a rocket is not. There are many types of missle guidance systems. Radar, IR, TV, GPS and inertial are some of the main guidance types. The S-400 is a radar guided surface to air missle system.

The 1/18 Harrier is a rebox of the Merit kit and is slightly more toy like (as their kits are) but still impressive when built.

Exactly. I used to be a collector of that scale back when it was all 21st Century and Unimax. These are indeed toylike compared to a traditional kit, but they make a great base for scratchbuilding. There are several people who did some stuff for the original prebuilt. I know a fellow in Louisiana who did some aftermarket resin for it. Same guy who just did a Hind in 1/18.

The Baz 64022 is a Missile (not rocket) designed for the Anit-Aircraft role (you had stated you were unsure of actual role). The Sea Vixen is neat in it's F-Bugliness. Neat stuff!

The sizes are on the box really, the Harrier for instance will be 806 mm long, which is 31.73 inches or 2.6 feet and a wingspan of 514 mm, which is 20.24 inches or 1.69 feet. So you'll need a bigger house. 😆

Normally a "rocket" is an unguided weapon while a rocket that is guided is normally called a "missile".

The kits are more detailed in my opinion, also inflation has a roll in the prices going up. Trust me, I'd rather spend 80 bucks on a nice kit that'll keep me occupied for a couple weeks when I get time to work on it versus other hobbies like modding real cars (been there, done that, and it cost waayyyyyyy more money lol)
