A woman here after Hurricane Ian I never want to see another gas generator again in my life I am definitely in the market for one of these and will use your link when I buy I'm going to tell you I appreciate you so much because your reviews are wonderful and actually help me learn I have been wanting one of these for a long time but Jackie never made one big enough to run a refrigerator that is the biggest concern I have is my AC and my refrigerator. Therefore I would want 2 set ups. I would also like to know if they are expandable I like the solar array that's foldable that's cool

I’m glad you addresses the battery chemistry. It comes up in every Jackery review. I have always been a fan of theirs and also own some EcoFlow products. I’m glad Jackery is starting to update their product line. As somehow who doesn’t use their power stations often, I’m realizing the cycles on the different chemistry isn’t as big a factor for me personally. The safety though has always been a concern so I’m glad you addressed that. Years ago I started jumping on the lifepo4 or nothing train so maybe I can start to rethink that a bit for my individual needs. Thanks.

Glad it was helpful. If the weight was the same or you were using it as a built in, daily full use, the iron phosphate is a no brainer but these things are gettign crazy heavy in t=he larger sizes, and I think Jackery is betting their customers want the most portability and will never see any degradation in probably 7+ years or more. Even the old little Jackerys seem to be doing very well for people.

Its not just its bec their battery is NMC but they charge such a premium for it for all their products, even older products. If they would bring the price down closer to the competitions I believe the chemistry of the battery would be less of a concern and more people will be willing to buy it despite it being NMC.

I totally get the value of the smaller units, they can be very handy. But I am struggling to imagine a situation where I'd buy this vs. a high-quality, 3,000 watt gas generator. This thing is so expensive it is in the ballpark of a Honda EU3000. Maybe there is some edge case where you just can't have a gas generator no matter what, but I just don't see the logic otherwise. It will be interesting to see how well these sell.

@trustbuster23
@trustbuster23 Жыл бұрын
@@bctrafficreview5033 I guess the real problem is actually the capacity of the battery vs the size of the inverter. If you have a 3000 watt inverter, you are going to want to use it to drive big loads, but this battery just isn't large enough to really use it that way for any length of time. You can't even run a single, small window AC all night on a charge. So, for most folks, this is either too much inverter for what you need, or not enough battery for what you plan to use it for.

Regardless what size your solar power station is and the number of solar panels you have, you’re still going to need a way to supplement your power needs & and a portable dual fuel pure sine wave generator fits that bill and complements your power needs night or day.
@KissAnalog

What you don’t realize is some of these companies in this business have small teams and maybe no electrical engineer doing hardware development that has a degree. Also LIFEpo4 doesn’t weight near twice as much as the NMC, but maybe 40% more. Great trade off for safety, and to last twice as long.

Get a smaller unit. They will have less capacity, but, at least, will give you some power for a bit. And you can always simultaneously charge them with solar panels to extend the run time (I believe models Jackery 500 and bigger support pass-through charging, though Jackery recommends that the input be higher than the output to prevent battery degradation over time).

My understanding is that Jackeries (at least from model 500 and up) support pass-through charging, so nothing stops you from having one (or more) Jackeries charge the next one in sequence, and the last one then powering whatever needs to be powered. That said, I read on Jackery's website that, in order for the battery not to be degraded, the input has to be higher than the output. How much of a degradation and how fast would take place is unclear.

Personally, I don't like how Jackery is proprietary in that they try to make you use their solar panels. They have made some steps to finally get closer to Bluetti and Ecoflow with this model but they can still do better. I know the lighter chemistry will appeal to some and will in turn be more portable. But since mine is being used everyday and not being moved around that much. I will go for a little heavier battery and a battery that will outperform this one 5+ years from now

Thoughts on Anker Powerhouse 767 vs a comparable sized Jackery? Which one would you spend your money on?
@SilverCymbal
@SilverCymbal Жыл бұрын
I would choose the 767 amzn.to/3MJQmAE mainly that it has more features and is Lithium Iron phosphate batteries. I personally use my potables a LOT so charges cycles and life of the batteries is a bigger deal for me. But the Jackery does have more output so if you had to have that and were ok with the standard batteries the Jackery is a good choice. But if I was buying today the 767 would get my money.

It's fine that they choose to use a lighter and less expensive battery. But then they price it higher than the more expensive battery. And they have no control over their factories. My concern is when charging at 1800w, you are going over the recommended current of the circuit. Most wall outlet circuits are rated for 15A at 120v. The max recommended usage of the circuit is 80% of the circuit rating. This means the maximum recommended running wattage for a 120v @ 15A is 1440 watts. I hope you are using a 20A circuit to charge at 1800w.
@SilverCymbal

Good point, it didn't trip my 15amp break but you can lower the charging speed rate in the app to force it to charge at lower wattages. This is especially useful if you were using a tiny gas generator to charge it off grid.

Here is a major issue I have with every single battery on the market. It needs a 240 volt port at 30 amps. I am not trying to run a dryer, or a stove. I need to run a well pump during an outage. It pulls maybe 1200 watts. I need to hook a NEMA L14-30P to L14-30R Generator Cord into a 30 amp generator inlet which goes yo a switch. Considering European versions get the 240 volt options. Take the European version and split the phases for American 120 volt and provide one 240 volt port that disables the 120 volt if necessary to pull this off. I just need to be able to power a well pump and boiler without having yo invest 10k for two batteries and a connector kit.

They didn't really go to 2000. The batteries are only 100% capacity for 600 or so cycles, they go to 70 after 1000 or more. But it degenerates 1%, 2%, etc. I absolutely love lithium iron phosphate dont get me wrong, but the weigjt is terrible if you want to move one easily and most peopel use about 10 charge cycles per month at most. That is a really good question. Its like I am talking to no one, I know. I will almost always record audio live but because I might be the last youtuber that doesn't accept scripts and talking points, I truly say what I see and experience. But sometimes, honestly it comes out bad or I miss stuff and when I review my videos if I feel I missed too much or don't like it I will do a voiceover to try to cover everything.

So the ecoflow delta pro is cheaper and better huh?
@SilverCymbal
@SilverCymbal Жыл бұрын
It isn't cheaper but it is better in the sense of more features and LiFePO4. But there is a difference, the Delta Pro is superb in fixed spots but aren't going to carry it around with you. So if you wanted 3000watt output and lightweight for daily carry the Jackery could be an option. You give up features for lightweight. If the weight doesn't matter the DP is an amazing power station

It still looks like they have the same solar panel plugs (their own). If so, big mistake.

That looks like a nice and expensive battery, but I don’t consider it a generator. The power is stored in the battery, it’s not generating.

Prediction: Jackery will continue to lose market share to Bluetti and Ecoflow.
@SilverCymbal
@SilverCymbal Жыл бұрын
I honestly thought that 2 years ago, but I think the market for these is 100x bigger than I even though. We are all a little different, I don't use solar that much, others thats all they use. Some get built in, so LiFePO4 is the only way to go, other use them for work. I even used two original Deltas at a medical site outdoors running centrifuges during covid. So its all over the board. They are so useful I think its just getting bigger and bigger so maybe there is room for everything?

Jackery's target is outdoor activities the se the lighter unit. This in not the unit for 24/7 home use, you should get a powerwall in that case to allow selling unused energy. I would defintely not use a Bluetti or Ecoflow and not able to resell that extra electricity
