Cool surprise bike, Mike with the 6R. Nice. A used bike saves a lot of money from Dealership fees and freight, etc. I hope you got a nice deal and enjoy! I'm interested to learn how far a ZX6R can reach for the range. Is it a 4.5 gallon fuel tank? I forget. MPG at same speeds of Ninja 650 MPG?

It averages between 37 and 50 mpg depending on how you ride it. You can get close to 50 if you drive around 60 mph, and 42 at 80 mph. The 650 gets much better gas mileage. It also requires 93 octane. It will throw an engine light with 89 octane gas. It rides so nice and engineered and built soooo well, and a little less comfortable as the 650.

This ZX6R will be a great track bike for your plan to test out a race track. On your 5 hour ride home, that was smart you were able to be more comfortable by resting your chest on the fuel tank, taking pressure off your lower back, stomach muscles and wrists. Did you need to refuel a couple times on the 5 hour ride?

Hi Frank, yes will want to do some track days with this new bike. Nothing crazy like the C group only. Also, it will be fun for some rides but not for touring. I refueled every time we stopped so about 4 times. The last leg I went 2 hours straight without stopping. That was when I figured out to just rest forward in the sport bike position.

@@StreetMotoZ Okay, cool, thanks. A long trip, maybe over 500 miles it sounds like. Hopefully the bike is comfortable for shorter 2 hour trips. I was on the Ninja 650 for about a 6 hour trip and by the end, my legs needed a stretch, but thankfully the ergonomics are nice on that one.
