I’m so over ND and their social team. A few creators I follow mentioned that they received threatening messages via IG telling them to remove post showing this palette earlier this week as it was leaked, meanwhile it launched at Sephora today. The majority of ND’s launches over the past 2 years have been “leaked” by someone on their team and they keep going after content creators. So ridiculous.

Thank you for pointing out that POC want and like neutrals, too! I can't tell you how many times I've tried to recreate a neutral look and had no idea how to translate a light-colored look to my skintone. It would be really nice to have blushes that are made with that translation already in mind: "you want a neutral look for deep skin, here you go." And just a reminder to all the lighter-skinned people watching, inclusion isn't about excluding the fair blushes. Buy your fair blush, by all means. But let's include everyone in getting a blush meant for their skintone.

THANK YOU for talking in depth about those dang Kaleidos blushes. I can’t get over how many people were telling POC to “get over it” because there’s the one red blush from a previous release that works for them… people really don’t get it sometimes. I’m white as well and I was so angry. I can’t imagine how poc feel! How hard would it have been to do deeper neutral blushes?

Thanks for talking about the blushes so in depth. As a dark-skinned woman this has been a pet peeve of mine for the longest. When most brands release blushes they only have 1 shade that works for darker skin tones and 9 times out of 10 it's a berry/magenta shade and I feel like there are so many missed opportunities when brands do that. Our skin can hold pigment in a way that most skin tones can't so put some thought and effort into creating our shades instead of just throwing in a berry and calling it a day. Give us the pops like reds, oranges, purple AND neutrals like a terracotta or apricot or muted peach. A few brands have done some of the bold colors but there is definitely a void in the market that brands could be taking advantage of but don't. 🤷🏿‍♀️

Imo, brands miss out on both sides, quite light and quite dark, tbh. And keep it well mostly with the middle range, which is also this kind of tanned skin thing, which is neither fair nor dark. I’m myself fair, and in winter time really pale, so, most of the colours on me look very intense. Like, finding a foundation, which is not having anything yellow to it, is quite the task. 😬 Having smth lighter and friendlier for the daily basis is actually nice, but, tbh, also could say that not sure how to feel about these shades Kaleidos just released. Especially, when the colours looks so… similar. It’s like dark skin tone people would want to have only magentas, and the fair ones - only some very loose pale rose. It’s not right in both directions. I’d personally see this as an addition to the existing shade range, although, I think, there could be more variety colour-wise. And, if more blushes are going to be released, hopefully, the criticism will be taken into account, and there will appear more versatile shades for everyone.

Totally agree and actually i mentioned this in a comment on a recent video, I’m over the 50 shades of Pink Blush and lip products did all other colours get colournapped? Pink is not one of those universal colours that look good most everyone, but earthy darker neutrals with brownish undertones is one of those universal shades that do look nice on most people. The Pink Ship has sailed the Seas to every nook and cranny in every shade available it’s time to dock the Ship and remember literally every of colour.

The Kaleidos blushes are wild. I’m pretty Celtic in appearance but I tan well, and all those blushes are WAY too light for me. Meanwhile, artists like Robert Welsh are showing how the dark purple cream blush from Rare Beauty looks amazing even on a mid-toned person. Dior has rolled out super dark and intense powder blushes. Kaleidos really missed the boat here.

For a few releases Kaleidos has missed the mark when it comes to diversity in their shades, be it shadows or blushes or bronzers. I saw another KZbinr saying that the previous release had darker blushes, so with these fair blushes it evens out their range, and now various skin tones have blushes to choose from. And I do understand where she is coming from, however, a darker blush can be lightly applied to fair skin. a pale blush CANNOT be built up for darker skin. Therein lies the difference. As a consumer I would expect that releases should be balanced across the board, so any consumer can enjoy something from a collection without having this unnecessary conversation continuously.

Actually that’s a common misconception. I am very fair and if I try to use a blush meant for deep skin tones-no matter how lightly-I look like I got punched in the face because there’s just so much pigment. HOWEVER- we live in freakin 2023- we should not be having issues getting everyone a blush they can use!

I’m SO excited that someone is doing a Star Trek themed release, the only other release with them I’ve seen was with Mac cosmetics years ago. Though if it’s at the price you think it is there is no way I’ll get it, that’s insane $$ for 1 palette.

Oh doesn’t it look gorgeous?!! I want it sooo bad! It’s probably going to be $50- $70 based on their other palettes that have the same exact layout. They have another one that has one row of duocromes/shimmers and the other two top rows are mattes and that one is $50. So this one might be a bit more because it has 2 rows of shimmers/duocromes etc. But their palettes are definitely worth it. They have an excellent formula for all their shadows. They’re one of my favorite brands ever:)

Disclaimer: I am not telling I have as many issues with makeup as dark skinned people. But I get how frustrating it must be when some things are pretty much non-existent. I have same skin color as you, light-medium (typical Finnish) but my undertone is VERY cool. So much so that nine out of ten foundations look orange or yellow on me. And the cool undertones seems to be in the fair and light categories. Very rarely in light-medium. I am pretty sure even more rare in deeper one. Not sure why.

The Kaleidos blushes could have been a duo with a lighter and darker tone to do the trend if you want or blend out a deep saturated one as needed. Even that would have given flexibility and inclusivity!

I 100% agree with you about needing deeper, neutral toned blushes. Some of these makeup brands think that all blush colors are universal but they just aren't. I'm so tired of 500 shades of pink products coming out, not everyone likes pink nor does it flatter everyone. We need deeper neutral tones. Those Kaleidos blushes were a joke!!

I said as much on the video and someone commented basically saying what about collections that excuse pale people 🙄 I am a pale person, I tan well but I get super pale in the winter. A blush that can translate the trend of putting a highlighter under their eyes can be tricky I think it can be easily executed with the already existing blushes with respect to color theory These pastel like blushes will look like a chalk on darker skin tones And pastel is having white base added to a color , so it is basically a chalk and will look ashy on darker tones who especially have warm tones I watched the video, never felt that you were bad to people Maybe it is some Hypersensitiveity so let it go and enjoy your day

I've got to agree with you about the blushes, and this is coming from the coolest-toned palest person I have ever seen. I think I've met one person in my whole life that was more pale than me, and it was only because she didn't have rosacea coloring like I do. And, yet.... some of those blushes would be highlighters or even contours on me (I'm looking at you, Pearl Bliss). Which, I love that for me... but anyone remotely darker than me would struggle to find a non-bright blush in this collection.

Have you tried her My Dream palette yet? It’s similar to the retro palette but I think it’s so much prettier and has more options because it has some darker shades and the shimmers in that palette are gorgeous! That blush under the eyes thing has been a stable part for many in the Asian beauty community for years. I tried it many times with very blended eyeshadows. It makes you look etereal, but also a bit vampiric (I think it's called byojaku because it makes you look a bit sick). But I agree that with four blushes it would be nice have some variation. It's a HUGE red flag when not even light medium people can see the blush on them.

I’m very excited about the new ND palette, I love that Natasha brings us both neutral and colorful color stories, and still being able to keep it all interesting. I think the concept behind the palette by Rose goes along with her makeup style and techniques, she usually applies cream/liquid eyeshadows and sets them with powder, but that color story isn’t appealing…

It looks like a cheap, 10$ palette from China.. not even that much. Though everything she sells is ridiculously overpriced, like her brushes. I do really like her channel though, a lot. My skin is medium dark- so the light side of where dark starts. Deep tan. And for a long time the brushes were too bright for me in the darker colors and they would be ashy in the lighter colors. They’ve gotten better but I still don’t like the bright colors on my brown skin.

Love your comments on neutral blush tones for deeper skin. I do enjoy the brighter berries and oranges on my skin but lately I’ve been reaching for a brown blush I found my Milani the other day and love that I can have as much color on the eyes and lips while my cheeks are muted. I’m not sure why brands don’t think that darker skins tones don’t want muted colors that work for them like the medium and fairer market. It’s simple. There is light brown and dark brown. There is light taupe and dark taupe, etc. As for the new ND palette, I’m here for it and shall pick it up. I think the neutral/skin tone native trend in makeup has more with younger people and their obsession with 90’s aesthetic. I remember growing up it was all about clear skin and glossy lips. Companies still want to sell eye makeup but it’s definitely more subdued and “natural”. I float between both extremes. Some days I want neutral skin and clean eyebrows while others I want full on purple and gray shadow on the eyes.
