New natural stone patio jointing in Liverpool with GftK's vdw 850+, which is a unique, 2-part, epoxy resin based, graded alluvial sand product specifically designed for pointing and repoint natural stone and quality concrete and other paving units.
This video shows the GftK vdw 850+ being used to point a new natural stone patio at a private residence in Liverpool. The video shows how to mix and apply the material by wet-slurry application, working standing-up in a comfortable ergonomic position. The material is applied to pre-wetted / thoroughly wet paved surfaces, so unlike other cement and resin paving grouts there is no waiting for good weather, as the vdw 850+ can even be applied in the rain.
GftK's vdw 850+ is a unique, Epoxy Paving Joint Mortar that is the global 'State-of-the-Art' for high performance and extremely durable paving joints for pedestrian and vehicular traffic areas, including for larger vehicles. GftK’s vdw 850+ is fully resistant to cleaning by high pressure water jetting and mechanical street cleaners, plus it is resistant to- and prevents weed growth through the sealed joints and it eliminates damage by boring insects such as ants. The advanced vdw 850+ is primarily applied by standing-up using wet-slurry techniques, which combines to be super-fast and brings paving jointing/grouting to a healthier and more ergonomic position than being on your hands and knees all day.

Application:
The mortar is supplied in 2-components including epoxy pre-coated sand to which the hardener is added and mixed to a fully homogeneous colour and consistence. The pail is opened, the bottle of hardener removed, then the base mortar component is stirred and mixed to reduce any settlement / compaction. Then the two components are combined by pouring all the hardener from the bottle into the pail and mixing using a suitable resin mixing paddle in a slow speed drill mixer, for a minimum of 3 minutes, and until it is uniform and homogeneous.
The mixed material is then poured directly onto the wet (thoroughly pre-saturated) paved surface and moved across the surface, standing-up and using a long-handled rubber squeegee and more water from a hose. The vdw 850+ mortar effectively self-compacts into the joints, with the aid of more water from a hose, and the rest is kept moving across the surface with the squeegee and continually wetting as you go. After an initial few minutes to allow any excess water to drain and the mortar to compact into the joints, the area is cleaned off and finished using a fine fan of water from a hose nozzle, with a soft coconut brush that is also cleaned frequently in clean water to remove any residue. As you can see in the video you cannot use too much water at this stage!
Job done!
