It may be worth the money. I found difficulty with the z range auto focus. Practice helps but it’s not the best of the bunch . The plus of a z (8) in my bag is resolution. I was considering buying the 135 mm z . I had already placed an order for a z85 .1.2 and for what ever reason it failed I just adopt a may be someone some one some where is tell me to hold fire . You pop up on screen. And everything makes sense . The more experience I have with the z 8 endears me to it . My photos coming out the bag are just a tribute to the z range . Given that the next generation of camera bodies is being birthed my question is everyone? Do you think the smart money is in the glass ,Unless it’s an absolutely most have . Then sitting back and letting the bodies flow , in the knowledge that the lenses will out live the camera bodies in one’s bag . I have put on hold the z 85 mm 1.2 mm . I use the Samyang 135 fe 2 f1.4 . From z 7 .2 and z8 it colours are amazing . But I can tell you now in most of my shooting it’s the lens on the body that I tend to have use or miss the shot single shooters out number team is the real world . Speed is king zooms help but something says to me this sounds to good . I will be kicking a can around waiting for the full reviews . Great work Nikon . Nice news to cheers

@GayBoucheryGonzagueАй бұрын
Where you shooting with IS + AF on in 135mm? The background is shifting as you move, I seen this a few times when the IS is turned on and mounted on a Tripod. Anyway shooting with IS on a Tripod will bring weird stuff on many cameras, but especially so on Nikon (Z8 and Z9).
@MattIrwinPhotographyАй бұрын
I have not watched in a month, but I recall no movement, can you provide TC and I will take a look? :). This is not shot on Z8 or Z9, and I shoot on all Nikons with IBIS on all the time, and the frame never moves. The cameras are now smart enough to know when they are not moving. This certainly was a problem in the DSLR days, and perhaps with other brands. IS is a Canon term, Nikon use the term VR.
@brentnora8128Ай бұрын
Nikon should try hard and bring this with an aperture of F2-2.8 with superb optical quality to compete with prime lenses, have the lens maintain focus of the subject throughout the zoom range, and undoubtedly harness the best image stabilization even with a tripod collar for portrait orientation switching.

When (on the photo) I compare the height of the lens at the rear end to the front height, in pixels, then I arrive at a bit over 110mm diameter at the front. It's not an "S" class lens. Looks good, in a cine style. If it has good suppression of focus breathing then that is great - as this also suppresses aperture breathing. As it gets advertised as a "video" lens that arguably means it was developed for less resolution than stills. On the 24MP cameras it will do absolutely fabulous [1], on the 45MP one that is a question mark. [1] The 24 MP full frame cameras have an OLPF (AKA AA filter) but the 45MP cameras have not (at full frame). The difference between the two in sharpness is huge. Compare the both 36MP D800/D800E camera bodies when the sharpest F-mount lens is mounted if you want to see what I mean (DxOMark had data on-line for this comparison. The other day, I tried to reproduce that, but the comparison feature in their website didn't work either in general, or with my browser).

Uncanny how much it looks like the 10 year old Sony PZ though I’m sure the optics will be a significant improvement over the older lens. But since I do most of my video work on Sony (but stills on Nikon) I’m not sure Nikon will manage to make a dent in my wallet for this one. Still it will be interesting to see how this lens line unfolds over the years.

Why don't you go only full Sony or full Nikon for everything? It's so much difference between Sony and Nikon? I'm interested because I'm deciding which mirrorless system to replace my DSLRs
@waveland2 ай бұрын
@ The switch to Sony is relatively recent so I don’t have much glass, where by comparison I have a bag full of Z glass including the 50mm and 85mm f1.2s. And up until the a9III I did not like the cramped Sony ergonomics when compared with my Z9. As someone who shoots manual much of the time there wasn’t any reason to give up the comfort and familiarity. The next a1 may get me to switch. Supposedly that’s based on the new body design, but if you’re in any way used to Nikon, I would stick with it.
@amermeleitor2 ай бұрын
@@waveland thanks for your reply. Why did you switched to Sony?
@waveland2 ай бұрын
@ Because I’m doing a lot more commercial filming these days and the FX6 in particular is a very flexible system when you have limited (or zero) time for lighting. Plus for commercial agency work the specs will often call for Sony FX equipment.

A good start but I hope Nikon some day release a more pro series of power zooms that have a wider aperture, back focus capabilities and a true variable speed two finger zoom rocker on the right side of the lens (industry standard). Keep it simple by having an optional motor driven grip rather than compromising optical design by building in an internal zoom mechanism! However, I see this lens as handycam equivalent as is so popular on pro camcorders and shall no doubt suffice for that type of shooting style plus might be a nice allround lens for gimbal users if the zoom is remote controllable through the camera’s USB output! 👍🏾🙏🏾😎
