The sample is compatible with the Nord Stage 2, 3, and 4, the Electro 5 & 6, the Nord Piano 3, 4 and 5, and of course, the Nord Grand. The new sample is available in Small, Medium, Large and XL sample versions, ranging from about 60MB to just under 200MB.
After transferring the sample onto your keyboard using your PC or MAC computer, holding down SHIFT and pressing the Piano Info button gives you more information about the sample and the original piano from which it was recorded.
Nord has sampled a G2 specially voiced by a piano technician to have a very mellow character. Unlike a felt piano, the new Nord Mellow Grand sample features the natural sound of the piano instead of using felt or other materials on or between the piano strings to darken the sound. I feel this still enables the sound to open up a little when you strike the keys harder and the natural character of the piano's own voice to be still heard.

Just wish Nord provided more memory space to load these new pianos without having to delete samples to make room. I want to try out the Stockholm Rhodes as well but have to delete samples to make room. 5k for a stage 4 88 and no memory upgrade? Come on now.

Agreed. I’d love to know reasons why they didn’t add enough storage. I’m not fussed about other instruments and happy to reduce these to medium or high quality but when it comes to pianos you really do want that XL. Bit frustrating but a fantastic instrument all the same

It's because of the high grade specialty RAM they use. It has one really bad limitation. It caps out at 2GB. This was a known limitation from the creation of Nords architectural design

@@1975Stevo I completely agree. Yesterday I decided to try all upright and grand pianos with XL and L side by side. Interestingly enough I preferred all of the L pianos over the XL both through headphones and monitors.

Yet another brilliant demo and what an amazing sound from the Nord. This demonstrates why the Nord is such a superior instrument. Light years ahead of the nearest competition! I own a Decibel. The most expensive mistake I have ever made.

Tony, you are something special this was a wonderful presentation on the other hand, it makes me wish once again that Nord would finally offer MORE memory (for the Stage 4) loading the XL version is the only choice... but, what needs to be removed to do so? already the most expensive keyboard offered..... why the least amount of user memory? I still love mine..... i just wish they would give us more i hate removing favorite sounds to add others thanks for giving us another special video today

It's mind-numbing when you start shopping for a keyboard and compare models. I currently use a Korg PA-1000 for live performance and am considering a Korg PA5x to gain the benefit of more keys (76 vs. 61), better key action, upgraded sound samples - especially the grand pianos - , expanded vocal harmonizer, etc., etc. It seems to me the 5x can do anything this Nord can do, plus you have the added benefit of styles, rhythms, songbook, etc. and many live-performance features that the Nord's don't offer. It's really splitting hairs when you compare the sound samples from one keyboard to another, in my opinion. So, I'd be interested in hearing others' opinions on why, at similar price points, the Nord is superior to the Korg.
