I’ve been eyeing Refyne pens for so long! Same with the Mark One with Studio Neat. Also, I am absolutely going with the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach to my journaling as I enter 2025. Happy New Year! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos in 2025!

I think what bothers me about the Mark One is not having a clip. I sit it on my desk at work and it rolls into the floor.

As you know I have the standard size Poromo. But I do keep a Field Notes in my bag just in case. But I’ve been writing haikus for 10 or 15 years, and I’ve started an instagram for it. I say all that to say this. I think I may change up to the pocket size for my haikus because I can have one per page to clean it up. Thoughts?

That is how I prefer it when I write poems. One per page. Makes it easier to index them. Whats your Instagram? I want to try haiku's but I'm not sure how.

That refyne pen is G2, but there are alternatives to the G2. I think most are gel, though I could be wrong. Like you, I’m not a fan of gel ink. I personally prefer the Parker type refills, because I write on the fly and in weird places, at weird angles, so I use the Fisher refills. I have several bolt action pens, including a titanium Fellhoelter and production version made of aluminum. I also have a titanium rocket pen and several of the Boker production rocket pens. The brass patinas well, once the clearcoat wears off. I am also a journal addict and case/cover addict. Fountain pens are awesome, too, but I’ve mostly been using Kawecos. We like the same kind of gear. I have … a bit … well … a LOT … of the Lochby stuff. I have my doubts that the Mini Field Journal would work for me. The form factor seems a bit overkill for my normal use. I love the A5 version, though. I’m looking forward to your review, because…regardless of what I just said…I still want one. Keep up the good work! I enjoy your reviews and random talks about your gear. We have a lot of “addictions” in common! Oh…and I’ve been looking at the Big Idea Design Arto pen ( bigidesign.com/products/ti-arto-edc-pen?_pos=11&_sid=d426617aa&_ss=r ) That one takes almost any refill. I may go for one of them, once I get some other things back in line. Keep up the good work, man!

My journal situation WAS broken, so I went on the search. Bought and rejected three journals, (oh the humanity) and finally found out that Stalogy actually makes a lined journal! I am right now chomping at the bit to write January first in it! Have a happy new year and your tin whistle rendition made me cry a little bit. 🥲
