UPDATE - May 6th: Firmware 1.01.43. The transparency mode has been improved on the Ear. There is less occlusion so you own voice when you speak sounds more natural. Distant sounds have been enhanced but nearby voices are still the same if not slightly worse. Overall it is still better and I'm now scoring them a 7.5 out of 10. I just obtained the Ear 2024. It is simply amazing. The soundstage is increadible. The bass boost is actually very good. I keep it on. Most of my listening is electronic music. Fit wise, need to play around with orientation. Comfort is 7/10 for me.

From my experience with the Nothing Ear (a), the best setting for the Equalizer is Voice and with Bass Enhancement set to on at level 5, the bass sounds much cleaner, deeper and punchier, not to mention the overall audio sounds louder.

I have come to the conclusion too ..the only thing that matters is the tuning of the earbud and the quality of the music file .. if you have 24bit track playing on a decent android phone and the earbud is tuned nice .. anything from AAC is enough . between AAC - AptX or LDAC is a very small difference most people can't even hear anyways ..unless you have triained ears or experience using premium headphones

Amazing idea with the comparison file! One nice trick you can add is conditional formating to total scores in personal section. If you do it, immediatelly after changing weights color coding will be adjusted showing which ones are best for you. And it takes 5 seconds to activate it. Hope it helps and again amazing job 👍

Hey man, really appreciate the review. I currently use the Google Pixel Buds Pro for Teams calls, and have issues with people being able to hear most background noise. It seems like the new Nothing Ear earphones are a step above an already-great set of earphones, especially for muting out background noise on calls. Think I'll be pulling the trigger very soon!

Thank you indeed for your astonishing production. But honestly we need your consultation with the following. In case the highest priority is for phone calls on the move with the portability of the buds for daily work, I agree with you that "nothing ear" is just perfect for phone calls, but the absence of a hook makes it harder for daily working lifestyle, especially if we need to keep a single bud in pocket after using, and then place it on ear to immediately catch a call without getting back to a case. I checked your other video for the open ear ones (which has a hook on the ear) but phone calls quality are far less comparing to "nothing ear". So what do you recommend?

One thing i missed on these is the subwoofer score you gave on the older review of the JBL Live Pro 2. I might consider the nothing ear, but my Oppo Enco X2 is still running great after 2 years. Too bad the enco x2 never reached the states, the only way to get them is direct from china. I would love to see more reviewers picking it up and see how it compares with newer releases.

I have X2. And I love the battery life and the controls. They have spoiled in that regard. But for the life of me I can't seem to have a proper fit with these. I'm always adjusting them, pushing inside. The comfort has been sub par for me. How about ear a? Did u get these or any other??

I agree about sound quality not being directly reflective of codec. AAC is better than old-fashioned MP3, but I find good-quality MP3's sound great on my home sound system with it's high-end components. I usually play digital files from my PC over optical audio. CD's have slightly better sound dynamics, but this is due to being played over lossless optical audio transmission on a sound system with high-end components. There is no way to replicate this within an earbud. Even the best are going to fall short by comparison. Trying to notice those small nuances when comparing AAC and high-res codecs is difficult at best. Better components playing AAC are going to sound better than lesser components playing high-res. Also, I think the entire user experience is probably equally important. I find the Oneplus Buds Pro 3 are slightly better in sound quality and dynamics when compared to the Pixel Buds Pro 3, for instance. Yet I like the overall experience of using the PBP 2. Controls are better, fit is far, far, far, FAR better, so the seal is better, and thus sound is also on average better just from that. I can't repeat how important fit is. I actually contact Oneplus about the issues I have with fit, and their response was pretty basic, "Try some third-party ear tips." I have only managed to get them to fit adequately so they seal a few times, and those times they sounded quite good. The point is there are a lot more elements to earbuds than codecs. AAC on good quality earbuds that fit well are going to sound a lot better than high-res codecs on low-quality earbuds, or earbuds of any quality that do not fit well. People often judge based soley on codecs, which is misleading. It's more of a marketing gimmick at this point. How many methods of delivering high-res audio even exist with use of earbuds? All that said, there is no excuse for not at least having APTx or something along those lines. Are you listening, Google?

Hey Picky, from the vid and comments, you rate the OPB3 > Ear(a) but the Ear > OPB3. Is this purely due to the Advanced EQ feature in the Ear? Apart from LHDC and ceramics, is there any other reason the Ear is > OPB3 but the Ear(a) isn't? or is it just the advanced EQ that makes the Ear score higher?

I've neem using my Sony XM1000's for over 3 years now and I still love them. I feel like I need an upgrade but the XM's are just so good at noise cancelling and they sound really nice. Just waiting for a reason to buy a new pair of ear buds. I also do not like the hanging down bit with Airbud design as I like to sleep listening to music or podcasts. The XM1000's set almost flush with my ear which allows me to lay on my side in bed. Bonus

Cheers! They're better in terms of sound but not ANC or Transparency. There's a slight risk when it comes to longevity even with premium brands. But Nothing actually shows some of their manufacturing process so I would trust them more than other brands.

The naming for the Nothing Ear models is frustrating and confusing, especially with all the mixed information online. Google often blends the specs of the three different models, and it can be a real hassle trying to buy them outside of the USA. This lack of clarity makes it hard to make a good decision. Cheers Mike! Stock tuning the Ear is better if you like a more balanced sound. Pro 2 more v shaped. The base tuning on the Ear though gives you better freedom to customise the sound to your liking.

Why cannot companies just get gesture controls right? The controls here are one of the better ones but having to pinch (or double pinch) and hold on either of the buds being volume down (or up) doesn't allow you to adjust volume using one bud only. I had the same with the Linkbuds and Jabra's Elite 10. Why is swiping up and down on the stem such a big deal? All 3 generations of Huawei Freebuds Pros (1, 2 and 3) had this 2-3 years ago. It is such a small nuance but the lack of this is a show stopper for me. I hope I am not being Picky here ;) (y'know what I mean)

Strangely the only earbuds I got complains from the other end with while talking on the phone where the ear 2 and the studio buds plus. I had to stop using them for taking phone calls, what brought me back to my linkbuds s as daily drivers - as I end up with them always since I got them, incredible good overall earbuds.

Noted on the process.. I guess I was just a bit bummed out at the time.. I also ended up buying a JBL Live Beam 3 for better call quality where they have some interesting features for that.. I take a lot of calls esp on the road & all the earphones I've had so far (a ton though not as many as you mate! 😂) have been really bad.. These aren't good as promised but are much better.. The screen case is good too.. 👍 Anyway, great work! Tc

honestly, although i like the design a lot (coming from someone who always hate stem design) I'm kinda wishing that either the new ear or the ear (a) have a new design, atleast one of the buds shows where they're heading interms of design for the next gen, hope they don't go the Apple way

I have noticed that in my S24 Ultra's Developer Options, you cannot change to the Codec your buds offer but, your phone auto switches or turns these options On for you when connected.

I'm eyeing on buying the FE but there's no store that i can try it out. I hate my Buds 2 Pro, the sibilance is way too much and I can't fixed it with equalizer.
