thank you for reacting to lucy!! here's a tips to lucy songs: they're veeery rarely talk about lovers or romantic love. if they do, it's usually a bside. their songs are known for it's very relateable and empowering lyrics, often talk about nostalgia, growing up, and adulting in this case, Haze is about youth. and not limited to youth as in your age, but that moment of your life when you're very passionate about something to the point of you're feverish, chasing things endlessly, make mistakes, experience things, and living your life to the fullest. that is the meaning of youth that they carry in this song. and Haze is about persevering through that youth, that every mistake, every struggles, every tears that you spent, is part of that youth. glad you like this song! you should check out the whole album, then react to the commentaries. they have commentary videos where they talk in detail about the creative process of developing this album. the ideas, the recording, composing, etc. i think you'll enjoy those! ^^

Wow, I love Lucy so much. Thank you for reacting, they have such a unique and intricate sound. You are right that after multiple listens, focusing on the different instruments and aspects of the production you discover and fall deeper in love with the music. When I first read the lyrics, to me it sounded like it was from the perspective maybe of someone who had passed on giving advice. To love and live life, you not let the burden of dreams and expectations crush you. To endure. That even if they can't be there for you they will light your path. It really touched me and was just what I had needed at the time. Lucy themselves have mentioned that for them the song is about the experience of youth. Which after more listening is also such a powerful interpretation, especially paired with the timing in the thematic video I think music and lyrics are definitely up to individual interpretation. What the song means to you. I agree that Lucy is a band you can easily become a little or a lot obsessed with it, if you manage to share that on the channel I'm so here for it! The members have mentioned that a favorite songs of theirs that they share in common is 'snooze' I'm interested to see what you would think about it. Hope to see more! I wish I knew more about composition so I could understand more about what makes lucy different so thanks for your educated insights.

thanks so much for the reaction! my interpretation of the song is finding things and people to love in life that help you see through the hard times. the column of stars line i think refers to appraisal systems in school and workplaces cause that's generally a big theme in their music.

interesting how your least fave part is the "sing along" part when usually it's people's fave ((nothings wrong with it tho! different taste and all)) my fave is the accoustic bass part in the intro, outro, and post-chorus. it just sounds soooo nostalgic somehow and very fitting for the youth theme

i'm about to dump a whole lot of information on you in this comment, so i'm sorry if it's super long - but hopefully it's helpful! if you have any questions about them or just generally if there's anything you want to know about them i probably know the answer and am always willing to answer any questions about them lol. also, if it's at all helpful for you checking out them in the future, i do have a playlist on my channel with all of their music videos in release order :) answers/responses to stuff you said in the video: - sangyeop can definitely pull off those vocals live - i was front row right in front of him for two concerts this tour and he was absolutely amazing despite having an awful cold (i actually caught his cold and oh my god i don't know how he was functioning, much less singing as well as he was. he somehow managed to pull off both of the high notes in this song perfectly and i really applaud him for that) - i will say that the sing along group vocals parts of the song are a lot cooler when the song is performed live and the whole audience is singing along lol. they do a lot of festivals and stuff like that so i wouldn't be surprised if part of the reason why it was put in there was for the sake of performances like that - the teaser with the 11 and the wardrobe at the end was for their next release, boogie man, it's a super different vibe from what you've seen from them so far and i think it would be interesting to see you check that one out next - at the end of the video when the song started back up - you'll see that a lot in their music videos, it's just for the credits - gwangil does sing a lot! if you listen closely, his voice is a lot more sweet and gentle sounding than sangyeop's. lucy formed on a show called superband in 2019 and gwangil actually initially auditioned for the show as a vocalist, and ended up being a vocalist, bassist, and guitarist in a few rounds before he ended up almost... accidentally? becoming lucy's drummer and having to learn how to play almost from scratch (his first time playing drums in front of an audience was with lucy, on national tv lol) - like the other commenter said, lucy songs are rarely just about love - when they are it's usually a very specific concept, one of my favorite examples is sangyeop's solo song "eclipse" from their album blue which is is a love song from the moon to the sun - there are confirmed meanings for a lot of lucy songs, they release "album commentary" videos for most of their albums where they talk about the meaning and process of making the songs. they're pretty cool, but they are long so they probably aren't great reaction content other stuff: they've shifted away from this idea a bit over time, but back when they first debuted wonsang described lucy's music as "ambient pop," with the idea being that he puts in a lot of ambient noise and effects to make it so that their music kinda transports you into the song and the story that is being told can be understood without knowing exactly what the lyrics mean - just something to keep in mind as you check out their music. they also have a lot of j-pop influences because that's a lot of what wonsang listens to, along with classical since yechan did classical for a long time, and occasionally a bit of jazz? wonsang did jazz composition in college before he dropped out, so you can sometimes see hints of that wonsang generally does 99% of their songwriting and production along with two friends of his (o.yeon and choi younghoon, they also record any keyboard (o.yeon) and guitar (choi younghoon) in lucy's songs and do those parts live for performances in korea) - magic was actually one of the few exceptions to this, it was written by gwangil. also! there's no dates or anything confirmed yet, but the members have been recording stuff and dropping hints that a new album is coming soon - my guess is either late august or september based on the release timelines of their past stuff, so keep an eye out for that! quick pronunciation guide for their names (and the korean so you can copypaste and have google translate read out their names if that's easier? the example words are also based on american pronunciation) violinist - 신예찬 shin ye-chan (shin like the body part, ye like in yes, chan like in channel) vocalist - 최상엽 choi sang-yeop (choi/chae/chwe/choe, sahng (almost like song), yeop like how you pronounced it :) bassist - 조원상 cho won-sang (cho, won like in wand, sang the same as sangyeop) drummer/vocalist - 신광일 shin gwang-il (shin like the body part, wan like in wand with a g on either end, il like in illness) general note - most of the time vowels in korean are more of an ah/oh/etc sound than an ay/oy/etc sound
