Absolutely love this album, Age of Consent is amazing, next album from New Order to check out is Substance. It is a must check out. Ceremony and Temptation are spectacular songs from that album.

If you liked Power, Corruption and Lies I'd recommend you to take a listen to their other albums (Low-Life, Brotherhood and Technique are incredible)
@Egotej4 ай бұрын
Fun fact: The Cure and New Order have both been accused of ripping off the other's songs, New Order in "All The Way" (said to sound like "Just Like Heaven"), and Cure in "Inbetween Days" (said to sound like "Dreams Never End"), which coincidentally is the opening track on "The Head on The Door", which Smags should absolutely listen to! 😤 If you continue to listen to New Order, my recommendation is Brotherhood because "Bizarre Love Triangle" is one of the best songs of all time :)
@mjs7344 ай бұрын
Also The Walk from The Cure was said to be a rip off of Blue Monday by New Order.
@garyfox75584 ай бұрын
"Just Like Heaven"-sounding one is "All The Way", not "Round & Round". I wonder if that was a joke. Both great songs anyway 🙂
@Egotej4 ай бұрын
@@garyfox7558 oh no, got those two mixed up somehow, ofc its "All the Way" XD thank you for pointing that out, will edit the comment accordingly!

@@Egotej You're welcome 😌 Robert Smith disliked "Technique", by the way. At least back then. He said something about how it was typical pop dross that sounds like everybody else. He was sometimes quite mean back then. I remember reading one of his mid-90s interviews and chuckling at how he already slagged off 5 different bands before I'd even reach the middle!
@resiseven74074 ай бұрын
the thing with new order is that a lot of their best songs were non-album singles, so id probably recommend the compilation album substance if you decide to do anymore. low-life and technique are both great studio albums from them too, though!

You definitely gotta do Low-Life, also by New Order

Heard this album for the first time in college in 1985 and it was life changing. Until then Joy Division and New Order records could only be found in the import section of record stores.

New order had crazy variation, technique was probably their best work after PCL its mad dancy while still sounding unique and guitarish.

Probably New Order's best album. I'd suggest their 1989 album Technique as your next stop. From 1983, I'd suggest investigating Murmur, the debut album from R.E.M., and Head Over Heels by The Cocteau Twins.

Here they are: When We Were Friends: The Backseat Lovers (vital listen) Citrona- Flipturn ( you cannot go wrong with any flipturn sing and they produce some of the most magical stuff nowadays along with the backseat lovers) Attic Sessions- Arcy Drive ( this is a generational put on and it’s a phenomenal album) Dr. Dog- Dr. Dog ( surprisingly has a great late summer vibe with so many chill tunes

Great album Lot of people I know give New Order shit because Joy Division was so influential in the brief time they occupied in music history, but logically, the sound of New Order is likely where Joy Division would’ve gone anyway. Ian Curtis wasn’t opposed to electronic music, he loved Kraftwerk, and Your Silent Face is very Kraftwerk-esque minus the guitars
