Definitely The King of Limbs is back heavy! The 4 best songs on it. Codex kills me every time…. I HIGHLY recommend you to check out the bonus tracks such as The Daily Mail, Staircase, Supercollider and The Butcher. A sadly missed opportunity not to include them on that album
@swafty58139 күн бұрын
I don't think The Daily Mail fits the records vibe but the rest for sure. I wish Yorke did more to flesh out the albums sound afterwards instead of going to the supergroup Atoms for Peace which butchers the vibes of TKoL imo. I think people overrate TKoL because regardless of the fanbases' favorite Radiohead record, the people just like the dopamine-rushed, blown out of proportion stuff but TKoL is not. It's my favorite RH record because it is super chill and is basically Yorke's best solo album. I mean, I love a good fucking crazy song like Paranoid Android, National Anthem, or my personal pick Cuttooth, but Radiohead fans ambitions get in the way and that's when they start to gate keep. Pablo Honey also used to be in that same headspace until everyone collectively agreed it is at least cringe.

the king of limbs is so good in my opinion. Little by little, give up the ghost and codex are some of my favourites by them edit 1: I think the cover for tkol is really good. it looks dark and grimy which compliments the way this album makes me think of a dark, damp af forest. which I suppose is a vibe I like personally Edit 2: pablo honey is just boring
@carsonpuff666511 күн бұрын
Pablo Honey is… not great honestly. I enjoy it because it like that kind of 90s rock, but there really isn’t an essential track other than Creep. The King of Limbs is a beautiful record, truly misunderstood by Radiohead fans and newcomers.

@swafty58139 күн бұрын
only because it sounds more like what people think Radiohead should sound like lol. It's kind of an inherently gate-keep kind of statement, but I think Live From the Basement is like the full bands interpretation of King of Limbs, because the album is basically Yorke solo material.
@tobias79859 күн бұрын
@@swafty5813 I do not see how I am gate-keeping by recommending a unique live album I enjoy. I think that the more organic approach to the robotic, almost alien-like compositions creates a beautiful juxtaposition. Thats just me though, and it has nothing to do with how I "expect" Radiohead to sound like.

Smags, are you thinking about covering Yorke's solo work ? His project with J. Greenwood, The Smile, had an amazing year with two albums, sort of repeating the Kid A/Amnesiac pattern. As for King Of Limbs, I think people mostly tuned out after the first couple of tracks and Feral, and skipped the rest. Not my favourite, but not deserving of such a bad reputation. Lotus Flower, Little By Little, and Give Up the Ghost certainly are up there for me.
@_CoasterNinja10 күн бұрын
TKOL has grown on me quite a bit as a Radiohead fan. Didn’t like it that much when first released, although Bloom blew me away the first time I heard it. Radiohead doing an electro-afrobeat track was something I wasn’t expecting and it just floored me on that first listen in 2011. The piano driven songs are some of my favourites from the band and Codex is an incredible piece of work, one of my favourites from them of that style. Lotus Flower is also the best pop song they’ve done since Karma Police, and one of Thom’s best vocal performances, also another favourite of theirs. Revisited the record and also the From The Basement performance again recently and now I have a new found appreciation for the entire album. Really dig all the crazy rhythmic stuff going on. It makes sense since everyone’s tastes change/evolve as they get older and listen to a lot more varied musical styles. Thanks for another great reaction!

Pablo Honey is such an ok album, semi bad at worst, decent most of the time save for maybe its like opener... And then Blow Out gives you a glimpse of what Radiohead would truly become, such a standout track in an otherwise kinda unremarkable album, I really like it. And King of Limbs. No matter what anyone says, I hold it very dear to my heart and very high in my ranking. Took a bit to adjust for sure, but once I saw what it truly was (and got to the last bit) I realized just how good it could be. Last 4 songs especially just hit for me, incredible stuff and extremely underrated in Radiohead discussions imo. I don't think you'll do it on a video (though I would love if you did), but please check out KoL in the Basement, for me it's the realized vision of what the album should've been, plus a couple of extra tracks that I think are awesome, very much worth checking out!
