I LOVE your work! I wonder if you would consider uploading alternate versions of these restorations with everything except the added colorization? (Perhaps on a second channel to avoid messing with your algorithm?) Not a criticism, just a personal preference I have for un-colorized footage. :) Either way, thanks for what you do!

If you dint know such a thing as "air conditioning" existed, you would not think in those terms. That is an issue for us today, not them then. BTW houses in the south were marvelously constructed to provide cooling air, with wraparound porches to cool incoming air and fireplace flues to draw it in as well. Also, people were tougher simply because that was their reality then.
@Jeff-uj8xi
@Jeff-uj8xi Жыл бұрын
I grew up in hot, humid Philadelphia. Only place with air-conditioning was a movie theatre. Most hotel rooms were non air-conditioned. Buses, subway cars and trolleys weren't air-conditioned. You opened the windows. Nobody had air-conditioning in their houses. Lucky if you had a fan. Stores had ceiling fans. I was a kid back then and could take it. Now I'm almost 80 years old, quite ill and couldn't survive without air-conditioning.

I went to college in Louisiana @1:03 - I beleive this is Bienville Street and Royal Street - Bienville Praline was opened in 1920, and remained open until the 1970's as I recall. Also, and especially for the hand full of commenters who can't help but romantically think this was some great time in American history and things are worse today; about 9 Blocks from this same intersection In 1920, three Italian-American shop keepers and two Italian _bystanders_ were _Lynched_ because they treated African-Americans the same as whites. There is a small monument at Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. & MLK regarding this.

They treated African Americans the same as whites? What are you talking about? That's one of the most weirdest things I have ever heard. When did this ever happen? Now that was true,those Italian immigrants did get lynched. the most saddest thing about that situation is those same Italians who were allowed to live became the unwanted bastard children of whitesociety and joined the same white people to attack black society across the nation. Instead of fighting those same whites every day that lynched your ancestors in New Orleans,these Italians subconsciously walk around with their head head up and call themselves honorary whites right now today. Very cowardice,embarrassing and sad, to be honest 😞.

At 41 seconds, you see a young teen boy in a white shirt walk away from the camera, stop and turn around. There is another 3 or 4 seconds more on the original film clip. That is from 1915… and that young paperboy has been verified as being Louis Armstrong after leaving the Colored Waif’s Home, and before playing professionally. Too bad the clip is cut short here.
