The New Orleans Saints moved Trevor Penning to right tackle for OTAs, but it could be a more permanent move. Could that move jeopardize Taliese Fuaga? Similar moves took place with Ryan Ramcyk, Erik McCoy, Cesar Ruiz and Landon Young which have all worked out. Hopefully that's the case for Fuaga and Penning.

After listening to Jahri Evans on the saints podcast I truly believe fuaga would be the lt he said he is moving along very well and answering questions and moving fast and responding well . We shall see I think fuaga is just an Incredible athlete that has amazing footwork that could play either side . Penning for me is the one to watch that muscle memory he might just be natural suited on the right side only time will tell I hope both continue to flourish at both spots so we can have our bookends tackle for the future

When Fuaga’s college coach said “if our LT would’ve went down with injury midseason, I would’ve move Fuaga to LT immediately”. Which tells you two things. 1. He’d seen enough from Fuaga in practice to have complete confidence Fuaga would be their best option at LT, if the starter went down. 2. In the scheme Oregon State ran, which was very similar to the Kubiak scheme, confirmed by Benton, they saw LT as a more valuable position than RT, enough to play Fuaga out of position, and disrupt both sides, just to have their best player at LT, if their competent & more experienced LT went down. It would appear Shanahan shares this philosophy considering the amount they pay Trent Williams at LT and are comfortable letting their RT walk and finding someone to plug in there. Despite what Benton says about the LT & RT being just as important, the fact they want to see if their number 1 pick RT can play LT tells me they’d prefer Fuaga to play LT if he can?

We’ve already said that Penning was going to be RT and Fuaga be LT. The problem is Saldiveri at OG. We need a Vet signing at OG. Trai Turner back on 1yr deal. Lemieux and Saldiveri is not good enough. Fuaga will be fine at LT

I agree, but it's still too early to make a move for a quality starter at LG. My guess is you will see some moves after June 2nd to fix this problem.

I think if it can work do it. It makes a ton of sense fiscally. both OT spots warrent huge contracts but LT is the one that becomes complicated. Trevor is in year 3. If he plays okay this year at LT and then blows up next year at LT you kinda gotta pay him eventhough you got almost nothing for 3 years. He more likely to play just okay at RT giving hes out of position and you may have a chance to lowball an extention because of that. When ot comes to winning idrk why theyre doing it. But 5 years of lowcost elite LT play is to tempting to pass up on.

Penning at RT makes total sense, because we did not perform in the left side. The head screatcher is putting a potencial pro bowl RT in the blind side. Guy is a beast, but it does make me feel insecure in the muscle memory department

I wiuld rather have Fuaga and his potential at LT than Penning on his best day. At least Carr can see Penning getting beat at RT by the DE and get rid of the ball. Fuaga has the feet and aggressiveness to be a really good LT!

Penning was Benched after his best game of the Season against New England ? Doug Morrow wasn’t patient enough with the Kid ! His size and athleticism is imposing . He deserves a new start with the new staff . It’s early in training camp ! Give it time . When the real hitting starts with everyone here and participating we can get a true answer with the Offensive Line as a whole.

I've been saying it. It's like they specialize in putting people out of position. It use to just be on defense (Alontae, Baun, etc.). Now it's spilling into the offense. And then when they're wrong, they're stubborn with it. They sit in all season or at least until the last couple of games when it no longer matters. I hope we're just overreacting, but history doesn't say so.

Way too much is made of the switching of sides with linemen. It’s not that difficult especially for elite athletes. I know it’s the off-season and we need something to focus on but, coaches know what they are doing. They need to know every position they can you never know who might go down.

Left tackle is the most important position on the o-line. You protecting the QB's blind side. Having Fuaga at that sport, regardless if he's out of position or not is critical! He'll adjust and do well, Pennington needs to be at right tackle, he'll do way better there, not the QB's blind side. Fuaga is the most talented lineman they have with the most upside and potential.

Adebo is definitely not the weakest. Never seen koolaid take a snap in the NFL yet and Taylor struggled in the slot and we haven’t seen enough of him outside. Easily a top 20 CB in the leauge.
