Anyway, Bill surrounds himself with talented people, and builds defenses for cheap and acquires talented guys from the clearance bin. Brady on the other hand masked his drafting inadequacies for offensive talent minus some good OL. Most of the guys who shined for Brady came from other teams, we have never drafted a star WR1 under belichick, only Gronk if you want to count him as a receiver. Now Brady is gone and look what has happened? Good defenses with anemic, porous offenses. Reality is Brady kept patriots in games, and obviously enabled super bowl victories, but Bill is a terrific disciplinarian who coached his guys to shine at their respective craft and not make mistakes and know their job which made them clutch in key moments. But Brady didn't need Bill, it's the other way around. Hell, if Bill just acquired a GM to correct his offensive mismanagement we would be okay. That is his one horrible weakness, which is many times more terrible in todays league.

The real Saints came out to play today, this performance was almost perfect. The Saints are a different team with Kamara on the field. Carr looked really comfortable in the pocket and that's wonderful to see. Grupe has already exceeded expectations as a rookie kicker. The defense gets better every game, created 3 turnovers today. Anyone who's watched the games knows that the Saints' D has been outstanding all season... the offense has just been off, though. Mostly, the pass blocking. If the O-line can figure out how to keep Carr upright some more, I think the Saints can be the team that most people thought they'd be all season. Of course, having a running game and the swing pass outlet helps that a lot, and Kamara is a huge part of that.

No! The strange part of that was the fact that Belichek forced Tom out. Kraft would have been fine paying Brady that last contract, even without Tom taking a discount. But BB was against that, and Kraft had kept Tom over keeping Garrapalo three years earlier, and felt like he had to side with Bill this time. Maybe Bill thought that Tom was washed, and not worth paying him again. Just like he had cut Richard Seymour loose when he was looking for his final deal. But Bill messed up. after seeing belichick and payton struggle without brees and brady, i feel like its fair to say that hall of fame qbs are CONSIDERABLY more valuable than just simple franchise qbs or HOF coaches. HOF qbs have value that cannot be replaced for decades.

But hall of fame qbs, due to the amount of touches they get and how great they are with their play can impact games far beyond a Hall of fame head coach. thats not critical of BB or SP, its just the reallity to ppl who thought coaches "made" these qbs look good.

Im not blaming belicheck for his coaching. I think his coaching is still in the elite category. He earned that status permanently after all those years. I’m blaming him for continuously starting one of the worst qb’s in the league, week in week out, benching him, then starting him the next week, giving him chance after chance. And For years now. That is a serious un-belichick-like characteristic.. he had no trouble benching star players in the past. Idk why he’s riding Jones so hard.. prob upper management influenced

he was bad to mediocre in 5 seasons in cleveland as a head coach, only 1 winning season, 36 - 44, 1 - 1 in his only playoff appearance with them. his first year in new england they finished last in the afc east, the only team in the division with a losing record. his 2nd season they started 0 - 2, and then brady got his first nfl start in week 3 and the rest is history.
