Hailey played scrappy ball. She used her legs on perimeter D, disrupted mid-range, also collapsed on the basket to defend down low and get rebounds. She did great spacing, distributing the ball, took high % shots with good looks, drew defenders to kick out intelligently, and lots of hustle. This is basketball. When she is on a team that doesn't have selfish queens, you can see how well she helps when the ball is going through her. She isn't super tall but she is scrappy, strong, has excellent awareness of space, plays predictive basketball, not instinct, she thinks out there and makes decisions for the best outcome. Hailey didn't score the most points, but she facilitated the defense, brought offensive momentum by ball movement, and by shutting down opposing guards and punishing their switches. A lot can be done to help a team win, it's not just flinging up shots like Harden,Luka, and Towns. You have to play D and get steals, rebounds, move the ball, switch, space, crash, run, get people on your team on your page. This girl plays team hoops. No laziness. This is an all-around hooper. She can shoot, but it doesn't define her game. She is trying to win on every play. The NBA could learn how to beat the Celtics by doing this because it's why the Celtics keep winning titles. If TCU plays with this approach all season, they are top 3.
