Interesting concept! a bitt worried though about possible water ingression....but if the duct can be routed high enough, maybe OK. Servicing in water is guess about zero, absolute nothing that can be done?

They say it only needs to be serviced every 500 hours or 5 years however; they only warranty it for 3 years! What does that tell you. Another e-tech situation brewing! Run!!!😢

That thing is a disaster right from the drawing board. The tests have shown that the holeshot with this engine compared to a normal outboard...the Evinrude 150 G2 (some powerhead as the Rotax) over 10 times longer, 36 seconds to get on plane. Speed was lower, maintenance was more difficult. There is a big fall out at BRP over this disaster. If you go to Team Marine Service channel you can see for yourself what a clust F*** outboard is and how BRP treats their employees!

Thanks for you comments mate. The added weight further aft of the transom (planing surface) would definitely make it harder to get up onto the plane. I was a bit shocked to see that design. Cheers 🍻 Aussie Boat Guy 😎

@@TeamMarineService the outcome of this Rotax is still to be determined. It seems to make sense on the Pontoons. But just so you know the Evinrude G2 is a much better outboard than the internet makes it out to be. There is allot of haters and negative coment leavers spreading hate on what really is a fantastic 2 stroke engine. I’m on my 8th year owning a 225 H.O. And it’s a rocket! 🚀

@@25hpboatracerman Another point how do you inspect/work on it while afloat Edit: just seen another video that shows it tilted right up, the whole engine clears the water. So still accessable

what the life expectancy for that engine, to pull 150 HP from 1.9 litre, the engine should be overstressed and of course its life is reduced, for example, the expected life of a jet ski is about 500 hours when the life of an I/O drive based on an automotive engine can easily reach 2000 hours if treated reasonably. good video
