Hay buddy, 1st totally get how you feel but it's all part of the experience of what work you do in the future. I did a food place in Bolton in Van's doing the same stuff, it was crap!! Drivers walking out before they'd left depot due to being spoken to like shit and the wages being the same. Dont settle for poor work for poor hourly rates. 2nd With regards to 'uniform' for the better work the client is going to expect a standard so have a look around at what class 1 drivers wear, get yourself some work trousers, and polo tops plain, for work, as an ex squaddie myself I get the meaning of H4H but your not paid to support them if that makes sense, it's a small adaption to keep the work coming buddy, theres loads of veterans driving and youd be hard pushed to find one wearing stuff like that. Honestly mate that would be my advice moving forward . Another thought would be talk to the agency and ask them to give you HGV work no more Van's as you're looking to build up experience in that role, it's all about bouncing back better than you was mate, hope your not too down today and that you get offered some great work, hang in there buddy you're doing grand👍

The best bit about being an agency driver is you only have to complete that booking Then after you have finished that shift or booking you can tell the agency to not send you there again and they won't An agency driver chooses where they get sent it's part of the perks of being an agency driver And as much as wearing your current attire means a lot to you and I understand that etc agency drivers that wear black trousers black t shirt and black jumper or coat with black rucksack etc Eg all matching etc will get the most work and code trained which you are etc Because they can be used and relied on to work as a two person team delivering to state departments etc with the only difference between a person that wears this attire and a full time employee is a small logo etc so that they look almost like an employee although working for an agency etc Have a look at the companies that wear smart black uniforms etc they are usually large blue chip companies with the best trucks etc I wear t shirt and jeans which reduces the amount of work I get etc but after being an agency driver for over 7 years or so now I can do most days I get sent to etc

Hi mate, just came across you’re channel and will sub when I’ve written this. I worked 3 years for an agency and the guy that ran it was pretty open when it came to talking about customers. He said that customers will come up with any excuse not to pay up and I myself was worked for a few who refused to pay for my services for some jumped up excuse. He always told me that if I get sent to a job I hated to try and just see out that day no matter how bad it was and then I could refuse to go back next time. The reason being, and I don’t know if it’s the same with your agency, the customer was obligated to provide you with at least 8 hours work any given day. If you are only getting payed for the hours you are working then I would ask the agency if they themselves are actually being payed for a full days work by the customer. This could b the reason that customer was p’ed off. What the agency guy also told me was that for every awkward customer on their books he had at least half a dozen awkward drivers. From what I see from your vids you are like rocking horse shit to an agency but the problem with that is they’ll send you to the customers that said awkward drivers refuse to work for. Don’t let them take the piss too much mate and gain as much experience as you can for when you start applying for full time work. You’ll never be out of work in the current climate and you WILL eventually land a cushy number 👍

Agencies are idiots. I drove to Trafford Park from Stockport for a 5am container job. On arrival I get cancelled they said my truck had a maintenance problem and it wasn't going to be back. So I rang the agency and left a message at 5.30am and headed home. The agency rang me at 10am and said they would find me something. I said no problem. They offered me a 8pm till 4am trunk shift. I said I can't do that as I would be dangerous as I had been awake from 4am. They decided to not pay me my 8 hours minimum pay. I reminded them several times. They again said they had offered me work and I refused it. I pointed out it was illegal as my day started when I left home not when I started driving. 3 months later still no 8hours paid. So got my wife to take them to court. They refused to pay saying I stood no chance. Guess what just before the court date they paid up. These are the things you are up against as an agency driver. Being treated as dirt goes with the job or so they think. The lack of drivers is pay back.

I know it’s a ball ache but just go to another agency. They are screaming out for drivers and while it might take one or two attempts, you will find the right one. A decent agency will invest time and sometimes training in you and ultimately you may get taken on by one of the firms you have worked at. Just smile at the right people and keep your head down while doing your work and it will all come good for you! Ok buddy some people will tell you what you want to hear and some will tell you what you need to hear. The problem is a lot eastern European drivers dress very casual...ie tracksuit bottoms T shirts and trainers and as such they struggle to command respect from their peers and companies. I understand your passion for help the heroes (I have been apart of that from day 1) but my recommendation is to wear some black or dark blue cargo pants and a plain polo shirt with plain jumper for the winter....nothing stopping you from wearing a nice pin badge for help the heroes. I understand your frustration but first impressions count. Clean uniform, clean boots..turn up on time and be respectful to the client and the clients customers...(you are the face of that company) do all this my friend and you will always be busy. HOWEVER none of the above means you should be treated like a Dog and your quite right to demand otherwise......just pick tour fights as you can't win um all. Sorry you had a bad day pal but just chalk it down to experience.

I get you mate, i know what you mean but tbh, i think more customers would appreciate my support for the wounded and the families of the deceased than what i'd look like in a polo. I'm on firm ground with that one. If they provide me with a shirt i MUST WEAR at a certain company i will. But other than that, they can get stuffed if they think it's unsuitable. And 99% of these lads are with me lol

I agree with your help for heroes stance but trackie pants do look casual , I wore dark blue pants and a polo . Look smart when you can. As regards types of work I have cleaned up a yard on drivers wages whilst waiting to be loaded, just put it as other work . If you have driven to a site you may as well do 8 hours as 6 hours , still the same commute . Just my opinion

@seismic64025 жыл бұрын
If you are getting paid a minimum number of hours you have to stay if that is the policy of the client. The full-timers could be on some sort of flexi-time or banked hours scheme, so you can't necessarily expect to be treated the same. The fact that you are there could allow an extra drop to be sent out at late notice or something. In driving sometimes you are also the spare driver, particularly in the bigger operations. Some drivers get frustrated with waiting, but it is part of the job. I would go for combat / cargo trousers, that have really good pockets for the work anyway and if you could get Help For Heroes polo neck t-shirts, there would be no issue I am sure. With you regarding the sweeping of the floors - that isn't really on. I have fallen out with countless clients over various issues. Believe me he would have you back if he was desperate for a driver.
