For drillbert the treat and turning back is really great. Treat is almost available every wave and makes him more faster. And with turning back you can dig down on the weakest part of a row not just at the end of the row thus you can spare your drill upgrade.

You could indeed hit those "Driller" enemies with the sword swing once they'd attach. You were just a smidge too early when you posed the question and tried; swung past it a few milliseconds before it had made contact with the dome.

not sure how many people mention this, but you can "push" ores by dragging the back ones, so it scoops up the front ores along a flat surface. Fast way I found to get more ores than my load upgrade can take, unless they patched that.

My two cents on the 2 tile method not being optimal. So basically if you have to constantly turn at right angles to get to point a to b on a triangle, if you have to run 10 down and 10 left you have to run 20 tiles. However if you have a direct path you only need to move 10 root 2 or about 14 units (basic geometry). This does not even consider the fact when you are carrying resources movement speed is faster and smoother. So based upon this I think considering that mining out a block or two (or even just hitting blocks as you go down that are on your sides so it doesn’t slow you down much) might be an investment for a more direct path in the future for transferring materials and getting paths to your resources. So the “optimal” digging path may eventually look like triangle with the dome being the tip. So to clarify, you still do two tile to locate resources at the bottom, but as you move down and up you continue to hollow out tiles on the side of you so eventually you hollow out a full triangle in the end.
@likebubba2 жыл бұрын
these are very relaxing but suggestions if I may waiting for the delay is time maybe you could’ve been down there and the difference at some point was negligible also I would have prioritized having the lift flow with resources like where you dug and had some iron for example, I would instead haul those to the lift as fast as I could then go dig

Great adaptation skills!!!! With some many changes you decided to take I feel that the ability to adapt and learn things in the momment to be able to use them later was extremely significant. I think there were a lot of little momments where you put to use some slight changes that really showed how much you were making the most out of a very different approach. I find it very cool that you were opened to that level of frustration in order to learn new and experiencie the game differently. I usually go two bricks apart BUT if I have a condenser, I go 3 wide and make a comb by digging one block in into it every 3d block from one side. So it's like IIiIIiII. This way I might not see a side of every brick, but I see a /corner/ of every brick, and iron is visible from corners. Water isn't, which is why the condenser is important. I personally invest heavily into shields, so I don't need much cobalt at least in the beginning.
@ChristopherOdd2 жыл бұрын
Yea I get the appeal of 2 bricks apart for sure. Find myself doing that most, but the dev has been chatting on the forums about how that's not optimal strategy and I can see why.

@@ChristopherOdd Also another note - when I make these long horizontal paths, I exploit physics to drag more items at the same time. You can stuff the tunnel full of items, but drag only like 3-4 farthest ones, pushing the entire pile in front of them towards the center without losing much speed. Would help you a lot on this double iron run

Maybe you should max any weapon upgrade before triggering the final wave. And you seem to like to leave resource behind just to trigger the final wave immediately instead of hauling first and trigger in the next cycle. What's the reason for that?

Each cycle becomes more difficult so you could essentially just keep mining but the wave will ultimately be tougher anyways.

If double iron doubles iron costs, what is the point of it? Is it just a difficulty increase by increasing the amount of time spent carrying/transporting resources?
@DavidWMiller2 жыл бұрын
Pretty much. It's a modifier, just meant to change up the gameplay balance a bit. It's not strictly about difficulty either, you can in the video how it changes other mechanics, like the balance of the lift and resource converter.
@arrowbro2 жыл бұрын
I guess the point of Double Iron is to massively slow the player's upgrades down? Since hauling power is still the same, so your income is effectively halved.
@SuperLapplander2 жыл бұрын
I think you could improve your way of drilling by planning it out more, like when you have the lift why dont you just drill to which ever side the lift is instead of carrying minerals up and to the sides over and over. Also you tend to make alot of pits when you could just remove a single block to make it more efficient.

OK, I don't have the game yet so forgive my ignorance. Why not fully explore each zone beginning with the top down? Doesn't it get harder to get through each deeper rock layer? Won't you get resources quicker by starting with the layers you can quickly drill through?
@Ironica822 жыл бұрын
The further you go down, the harder the bricks are (you can tell the level changes by the color changes). Also, there are five different strengths of bricks and you can tell that by how solid the brick looks. Thus, at the start, you should only stay on level one (maybe level two if you find the two softest bricks) until you upgrade your drill strength.
@ChristopherOdd2 жыл бұрын
Deeper layers have way more resources and upgrades. I think the best overall approach is to just mine soft blocks everywhere until your drill isn't performing well enough to continue doing that.
@Ironica822 жыл бұрын

I always go for the Long Stab. It's more manoeuvrable and kills more flying creatures at once
@DarkDodger2 жыл бұрын
It is definitely better for killing fliers than fast stab, but there are better and easier ways to kill fliers. Wither especially makes killing fliers a moot point, as it automatically wipes them all out, but the reflection shield is also a really good way as you could see in this video too. On the other hand, long stab isn't good at killing or weakening strong monsters, because of its slow speed and long recharge.
@ProzacStylings2 жыл бұрын
Fast stab is the better tree. It leaves you vulnerable for less time, killing flying enemies quickly is more important than killing all of them at once, and javelin trivializes siege drills.
