the reason the old birds do not fly with you on top of them is because old birds have a sense of if a player is nearby them, when youre in a specific radius of one thats active, it will not leave the area and turn on its spotlight much more frequently to search for you until you leave or die but yes, you will remain on top of one flying, however im pretty sure you die from position desyncing when it drops back down

So unfortunately I tested for multiple in-game days and on multiple moons (eclipsed as well) and NONE of the old birds were flying up anymore. Whether I was on their head or not. Some days I tried to just hide and wait off to the side. Nothing. They don’t seem to know you’re on their head or turn on their spotlight either. It feels as if their ability to fly up is gone in this patch.

Imagine if you went to an Old Bird moon, and if you got a meteor shower, they would leave. So that the company who made the (halden electronics/military company, or whoever made 'em), wouldn't lose prebuilt machines and save materials and money.

I did not see an old bird flying but I heard one up in the air yesterday, so idk what is going on other than player distance preventing them from flying.
