Maybe do a partial revert on the power nerfs, do a -15% instead of the -30%. That might be the sweet spot with the other changes, letting the tanks feel tanky without squishies feeling like they hit for 2 damage an ult.

Tbf the amount of damage in the game the last few years has been absurd. A partial revert maybe but tanks also shouldn’t die in 2 seconds from the absolute stat bloat damage builds have had.

Played one game of the new patch and the team had 3 tanks. Needless to say the Squishies on my team got farmed by a Sun Wukong and Hercules and we lost Hercules is even better this season 😑

I enjoy playing odin on new update, 3 damaging abilities, and most mages dont have a jump to escape ult, so can buy time to bird bomb them again and secure kills

As a mage/ability-based hunter/assassin player this new update has killed Smite for me. I don’t want to make half my build tank items and sit in mid lane trading blows for 10min at a time only for both of us to run out of mana and have to back long before either could ever get close to a kill

I completely agree, I've been smite a long time and what they've done just makes me want to Uninstall the game. Bloodforge being 45 power, like excuse me? I tolerated them removing hastened fatalis but this... I just can't do.

i feel like something thats not really being picked up on, is that IN THEORY, if every item is worse, no item is worse. if every single for example assassin item does less damage, theyre not all bad items, theyre all just item minus 30%. obviously things are gonna shift but its not like youre getting less value for your gold, because the overall value of power-per gold has gone down. also, this tryhard thursday is gonna be insane with the new meta 🙏

No healer nerfs is what I would say is the wackiest part of this patch. Speaking about tanks, I do think that they overdid it a little with this patch, but changes along this vein were definitely necessary for a number of reasons. The primary one that I would like to point out, is that just due to the way Smite is played, tanks are inherently a PvP role. While Mages, Assassins, and Hunters tend to be capable of clearing waves, farming camps, and DPSing objectives, Warriors and Guardians sacrifice the majority of their PvE capabilities to trade more easily and favorably with the damage dealing classes by virtue of having more health and taking less damage. But for a while now, the window where tanks could actually trade favorably with DPS classes had shrunk to the point where at most stages of the game, and especially late game, you would just get completely obliterated. With these changes, not only is there more build agency from the tank side because of the harder to reach prot cap (though I do wish that there was also more agency to build extra power in dmg builds with items like serrated, that give a ton of power semi-conditionally), but it'll also be much harder to just blow a tank up without properly building pen. TLDR I think if they nerf healers and certain problematic Gods/items (Such as Herc, specifically Herc passive which now gives near to 2 items of power, and Glorious Pridwen), this patch will actually be really fun. EDIT: also obviously I'm mostly talking about Conquest, this clearly won't be too hot in Duel

I actually like the idea of all dmg in smite getting reduced, way too much dmg in smite compared to other mobas. Damagers were always playing the one shot game and tanks got more value out of counter building than tankines itself ...Full pen builds are gonna get even more popular tho ...objectives seem like they could use some penetration actually

Tbh though that's one of the things that made me love smite. I liked that it felt different and more fast paced than the slog you sometimes find in other mobas, and imo I prefer counter building. You actually have to think about your build instead of just building generalized tankiness 🤷‍♂️

I think this is a bad change, too. Smite has had tank metas in the past, and i personally always found them very boring. The game pretty much becomes brain dead to the point where no one but the tanks have a chance unless there is a massive skill gap

Honestly I’m just so tired of the game constantly, and drastically, changing. The soul surge is ridiculous and serves no real purpose. i don't mind adcs or mid fleshing out their builds with one or two defense. I seriously don't think 6 damage items is a healthy meta, but it's one we've been stuck in for so long that we've just gotten used to it. Picking up a breastplate on a mage or shoguns on an adc feels good. Obviously tanks are running the show right now and that needs to change, but a full revert to what it was prepatch is out of the question.

@@davidstears7037 Static numbers were actually not increased if I’m remembering correctly. A lot of gods with heals in their kit were buffed in some way; whether that be cooldown reduction or abilities gaining other effects. They also did this along with removing the “out of combat” global anti heal. This combination of changes has actually increased the total healing of gods in many instances and allow people to disengage, heal up, and re-engage a lot easier since that healing isn’t reduced. Actually after this initial change, healers were majorly OP and have been nerfed every patch since.
