Hey, I'm gonna get that bike for next season. Are there any parts you would change? How are the brakes? And the 2.6 tires? Thanks man

Hey! I changed a couple things. The Maxxis Rekon tires aren't quite grippy enough for me, so I sold them brand new off the bike and put an Assegai on the front and Dissector on the rear. 2.6 is great on the front but with the dissector I found that 2.6 on the back wasn't enough clearance due to the bigger knobs. So I went 2.4 on the back and it's perfect! I swapped the brakes to Deore 4 pistons as new but I don't think that is necessary, I just had a good deal on them so did it anyway :). Oh and I ride a large despite being 6"2 because I like a smaller bike, so I went for a 180mm bike yoke dropper. I would say the tires are a good upgrade to do straight away, everything else was just personal preference. It's an awesome bike!

In your opinion do you think a downhill bike can still be used to do enduro? On say a one off thing it will not break the climb having an unlockoutable rear shock?"

I think you should look for an enduro/trail bike over a downhill bike. I had a few when I was younger and in general they are less fun out of the bikepark, even though they look cool :)

I'm riding a Giant Faith 2010 up Makara and at 52 am not the fittest chicken in the coop. The age of the bike does matter tho, my 98' Foes Weasel with 3" tyres was a struggle (I managed to ride it up at Xmas non stop other to let 3 riders past... on a quiet day but the mini strokes and a heart attack on the way up and very antique down hill geometry definately made it a predominantly down only bike). The Giant is very capable of going uphill.. is not too heavy, and with the Rockshox RC3 on the front I have a semi lockout that is all I need (a little give makes for better connection to the ground over rough steep bits)... (You can see the result in my poor quality vids) You may need to invest in a smaller single sprocket on the front, or as big a cluster you can fit to your derailleur at the back. I have a 1x10. q8)
