Ugh so jelly! Love love that you got the honeycomb! I saw it in person last year at my first pen show and I vowed it would be my first Estie! But then Punch came out and I was so worried it would be sold out so I grabbed it! And I LOVE IT!! Honeycomb will be my second Estie for sure! Maybe even with a cool grind!! I tried kirks needle point at the pen show this year and even for being a broad nib lover, it was pretty cool! Thanks for sharing your pen with us!! Xoxo ♥️🐓🖋️

Wow and I thought your extra fines were already so tiny and then here we have needlepoint! Lolol. The way you were able to write with it and it still feels quite smooth for it being toothy is amazing! :)

I have the needlepoint in the Botanical Gardens finish. I had Diamine Writer's Blood in it. To tell you the truth I am not a fan. I love my Platinum UEF nib and my Needlepoint ground by Mike Masuyama. So I am used to the specific toothiness of these nibs, and I wanted to try the grind by someone else as well. I didn't like it because it was too borderline scratchy. Same with the scribe nib. Although I absolutely love my architects - one of my fave grind - the scribe nib had an almost scrachy feel to it too. Then again I have just decided to give them another go with different inks like you did. Monteverde inks are pretty good wet inks as well. Something like a horizon blue should be effective. İf not I'll give them a go with some Pilot inks as well as you suggested. You should make a monthly impressions video after your first impression ones to follow up on your journey with different pens and especially custom grinds 😊

I purchased an Esterbrook fp fine nib a year ago. Good writer but quite wet.
@KarynaLovesToPlan7 ай бұрын
The Needlepoint nib is much finer and is wet so you get quite a crisp smooth line!

Thank you for your code! I've used it to save and support you! As a personn that loves fine point nibs, you have to try Kirk Speer's tetanus grind! It's my favorite! He was able to get it to a .10 point for extra, extra, extra five point nib! Thinnest ever for me! Love it! Bought more!

I’m so tempted to get the honeycomb eventually for my collection. But I was thinking of getting the fine flex or the extra fine flex. My fav tho is def the journaler nib. Enjoy your new addition 💛🤎 🐝 😊

I took a chance on a Kirk Speer Needlepoint second hand from Mercari. I'm not usually a super extra fine nib person, but it is lovely. So well tuned, and that makes all the difference. I had Kirk do a CSI for me at the Dallas pen show recently, and he also did a reverse architect on one of my Twsbis. That man is magical!

Kirk does great work! I cannot wait until the next pen show to see him!

That Honeycomb is beautiful! I debated between that and Petrified Forest and decided on the latter. I have a reverse architect grind from Kirk on my Tromso and the "non-architect" side is super fine. I would say on par with your needlepoint. There is some feedback, but not scratchy. Took some time to get use to, but I like it! Enjoy your new acquisition!

I really want to try a needlepoint, but I'm worried it will be too fine for me. Recently I got the scribe nib on my Estie Punch and it is taking some getting used to. I am slowly trying one grind at a time. I do like the Journaler grind. I will likely try a needlepoint in the future (or maybe I should try it at my first pen show in the next year or so...) Thanks for your Videos!!!!

Happy this was helpful! I highly recommend trying one at a pen show first before buying - it is so fine that to some, it can be too dry and toothy.

I was the same way when I actually saw this in person. I don't have it yet, but one day. I just got one of my Esterbrook nibs ground to a CSI by Kirk. I also really like the needlepoint. (might be my next grind). Thank you for showing.

Ooh good choice of grind from Kirk! CSI is such a good way to get line variation!

@@KarynaLovesToPlan I also had a different nib in architect. I'm so excited to ink these up in November.

How does the needlepoint feel compare to a Benu Euphoria in fine. I am interested but probably won't get to try the specialty nibs until DC Pen Show. My wife and I cannot wait!
@KarynaLovesToPlan9 ай бұрын
Soooooooo much finer than the Benu Euphoria in Fine. The Needlepoint is toothy, lots of feedback, but with the right ink, smooth. I love mine!

Thank you for sharing! Have you found that the needlepoint is a good match for the Hobonichi?

Yes! I love how fine this nib is and it is still smooth!

@@KarynaLovesToPlan thank you! Looking for something fine and that will dry fast on the Hobonichi paper. Sounds like this is a winner.

I have an estie in a fine nib but it’s way too wet and broad for my normal everyday writing so really want to purchase a needle point nib for it. I don’t have any options to get it ground down so wondering if you know where I could purchase one? 😊
@KarynaLovesToPlan5 ай бұрын
I recommend going straight to PenRealm (www.penrealm.com/product-category/nibs/page/1/) - Kirk Speer is the one who does the Needlepoint. You can buy a Jowo #6 nib and have him do a Needlepoint grind on it and you can swap it out. Good luck!

What inks are dry and wet? I’m looking for both types because I have 2 Platinums that need wet inks. I have Waterman that needs a dry ink. Would love your opinion. Beautiful pen !

I highly recommend MountainOfInk.com - this blog is an amazing resource of all inks, with amazing information on flow, shading, sheening etc.

h, would you say that the estie needlepoint is a smoother writer than the leonardo momento in ef? regards, sabine

I'm writing with both right now, and the Needlepoint is definitely toothier than the Leonardo EF.

I am going to get the Estie in Honeycomb for Christmas this year, but I am so torn on which nib to get… EF or F. I worry that F will be a bit too broad for my small writing but am worried that the EF won’t show the gorgeous properties of the inks.
@KarynaLovesToPlan Жыл бұрын
I understand that! I love both F and EF and for me, there wasn’t a huge variation in F or EF. Good luck!

I have two needlepoint nibs (on a Tortoise and Evergreen) and they are perfect for my small writing in print and cursive. It takes longer to get through ink with this tiny nib which makes it great for travel. Enjoy!
@KarynaLovesToPlan Жыл бұрын
Ooh! Good to know - what have you inked in these pens and what is your favourite ink in this nib?
@Quinkerbell_3604 Жыл бұрын
@KarynaLovesToPlan I have tried a few inks, Diamine Mistletoe and Sailor Tokiwamatsu in the Evergreen and in the Tortoise I use Pilot Iroshizuku Tsukushi, Papier Plume Cafe Diabolique or Kaweco Caramel Brown. I recommend choosing wet inks and you can skip shading and shimmer inks, your line will be too fine to see the character.
