Anything from 15 minutes to half an hour is good for me. I enjoy watching fountain pen videos while sitting with the grumpy cat. She tolerates my presence for up to an hour, but I’m not allowed to move at all while she’s on my lap. If I so much as twitch she bites me then leaves. The Jinhao 80 is a lovely pen, I have the ivory and the brown. The brown has a nice wet fine nib while the ivory has a drier fine nib. Both are pleasant writers. I also have the Lamy 2000, and they really aren’t comparable, as the Lamy 2000 is a piston filler and has a hooded 14 karat gold nib. Not the same at all. I enjoy both. I have more invested in the Lamy 2000, and do like it more, but it stays at home because I’m scared of losing it. The Jinhao 80s can travel with me, as I’m not worried about losing a pen that I have less than CDN$6 invested in. The Jinhao 82 looks nice, I’ll have to look into it! Thank you for another good video.

Your grumpy cat and my grumpy cat would be fast friends! Mine isn’t a biter though… that must hurt!! Thanks for the feedback about video length! Really appreciate it. I can see myself taking the Jinhao to work. I wouldn’t want to take a more expensive pen.

Nice video. I do appreciate your hands on approach. The length of this one is just perfect for my taste. I do have Jinhao 80, but in F not EF, for me it is the best pen I bought in 2022. Friendly regards Keep doing videos, you are talented

No one is choosing between lamy 2000 and this Jinhao, like weighing pros and cons or something. They are either for completely different markets, or maybe for future lamy 2000 owners. Lamy has lost zero 2000 buyers to Jinhao. They need not fear.
@ellistreloar2047 Жыл бұрын
Besides, The Jinhao 80 has nothing to do with the L2K. It is an attempt to revive the Lamy 80 which has not been made since the 1980s. The Jinhao and Lamy 80 do not have stainless steel hooded sections and they do not have piston filling mechanisms. The similarity of the external design to L2K is because the Lamy 80 was also designed by Gerd Muller.

@@ellistreloar2047thank you so much for this comment. I was wondering why they would call it the 80 and not the jinhao 2000.. it's not like your can copywriter a number, and it didn't stop jinhao from calling a Montblanc 159 clone a jinhao 159

My reason for choosing the J80, is that as much as I like the L2k, I really hate hooded nibs. I like the L Studio, but I don’t like metal pens. For me the J80 is a happy compromise on both. Especially since I’ve been able to fit Lamy nibs on mine.
@mikafoxx2717 Жыл бұрын
@@archeryandstuffwithstevela3423 A fair point. Though I do wish the J80 weighed just a few grams more. It's just light enough that it feels cheap. Doesn't need to be anywhere near as heavy as the x450 or such, just make it a little heavier than a ballpoint

All my Jinhao 80 pens have fine nibs, not extra fine like yours. I have had no issues with the nibs. I have all black one, black clip too with a 1.5 Lamy stub nib. Love it. I have an ivory white Jinhao 82 as well and love it's solid feel. More solid than the Jinhao 992 pens that I have. On my table today I have a green Jinhao X159 with a fine nib and silver clip. I writes beautifully and looks very grand.

I see lots of people loving the Jinhao x159. I’m hesitant to try it as I have quite small hands and it is a big pen. I’ve actually just been watching some videos about putting Lamy Nibs on the 80. Maybe I will give it a go!

@@Pausewithapen I prefer smaller pens as well, and while the x159 is larger than a normal pen it's more large in like an ergonomic way imo. I find that its still pretty easy to have a relaxed grip on it. It is the thickest pen in my collection, but I have some eyedroppers that are nearly the same thickness, and since trying it I'd say it does kind of live up to the hype around it.

That’s good to know! There is definitely a lot of hype!

I have the Jinhao 82 Mint with an F nib. I did not like writing with it at first, but I love how it look, it is so pretty!! In comparison with the Jinhao 992 with an F nib, the 82 Fine nib writes with thinner lines. (The 992 f nib feels like a medium and is already thick for my liking.) Happy that the 82 F is the same with the pilot prera's f nib and after writing with it more, I am loving it now and thinking of getting the other colors - all the colors! LOL! They are inexpensive and write so well, so why not! I bought these Jinhao pens because I love comparing inks and they are inexpensive hence not so hard on the budget and since I am new to this hobby, I don't want to buy expensive pens at this point when I am still learning my preference. I also have the 166 and 519, which are way inexpensive around 1usd or even less, love their EF nibs.

I agree- I’m also new to the hobbie and am still definitely learning what I like and don’t like. The pilot Prera is on my list, but it seems to be mostly sold out in Aus at the moment. And now I need to go and research the 992, 166 and 519!!

I started collecting fp since Dec. Most of my pens are jinhaos because they are so great and smooth writers. I do have other brands, but it is crazy not to own them if you use your pens. I know collectors who don't use their pens. I have close to 60 pens. Happy collecting.😊
@Pausewithapen Жыл бұрын
Wow 60 pens is amazing! Do you find you are still reaching for them all to write with?
@leodegas7731 Жыл бұрын
@@Pausewithapen yes. I try to write with all of them. But at the moment I have 16 inked and I am trying to use them first so I can get the others in rotation too. I also bought my first vintage pen, a duo fold jr from Parker, made in 1920's. I write with it often also. As of late I don't write as much. My left eye has some problems and I go for surgery this Wednesday. So I have my fingers crossed 🤞. 😊 Everyone have a great day. ☺️

For videos, 10 minutes or less is good. I have the Jinhao 82, it works well for me. Currently using blue ink but I have other color inks incoming.

Not sure if I have the best feed in mine, but still a great pen. Just getting quite a bit of fade if I write lots in one go.

TWSBI pens use Jowo nibs that are made in Germany. Also, TWSBIs are made in Taiwan and not Japan. I was impressed by the EF nib of your TWSBI Eco.
