Sequoiah from ‪@projecttreecollard‬ explains some of her philosophy on weeding in the garden. We are all busy humans and may not have time to get to all of our weeds. Sequoiah explains how to prioritize which weeds need pulling by getting to understand your weeds life cycle and how they propagate themselves.
As a former landscaper for 20 years, and as a nursery professional, she understands the weeds intimately and knows how to teach others how to be less daunted by the task. Sequoiah also addresses body mechanics and how to change body shapes while weeding so as to reduce repetitive motions.
Tree collards (Brassica oleracea var. acephala) are members of the brassica family. They are also known as Tree Kale or Tree Cabbage. Their relatives include traditional collards, kale, broccoli, cabbage, brussels sprouts, kohlrabi, and cauliflower. However, unlike most of its relatives, tree collards are perennial. This means that, like a fruit tree or rose bush, they will continue to grow and produce year after year and without the need for planting new seeds or seedlings every year like traditional collards and kale. Tree collards are hardy to about 20° F (-7° c) and in mild climates have been known to live for up to twenty years! They are closely related to other perennial collard varieties grown in Mediterranean, Africa, the Americas, and other countries.

Good info. I end up doing the short 15mins daily because I feed most of it to my rabbits. Makes me learn how to identify them so I know what they can and can't eat. 🐰🌿

I did that when I had a rabbit but he was kind of picky...dandelions were his fav. other than tree collards. I do something similar with my chickens.....they often love the little bits of dirt clinging to the roots.

Ive got a colony of 10 adults I breed for meat. They love it when I weed, and only 2 are picky. 🐰

Bind weed doesn’t have blooms. Seems the roots always snap and I can’t ever seem to be rid of them 😢

I have seen Bindweed bloom but i think it mainly propagates by spreading roots. It is one of the hardest weeds I have ever encountered. Sorry you have it. I found trying to get the roots out worked best when the soil was moist but not too wet...and I focused on getting every little bit I could. The worst thing would be a rotatiller!

@@projecttreecollard it’s in 2 raised 3x6 beds which I have not planted yet this season. Considering straining the whole bed! Thankfully not in my bed of purple tree collards 😊 which only gets nettles in it.
