The 589 is a good looking truck. I like all the room it now has over the 389. When you’re in the truck for 6 days a week, loading your belongings and groceries and climbing over it all to squeeze through the seats and put it away in the sleeper and having to take it all back out at the end of the week, gets very frustrating. As I get older, I choose comfort more than anything now. As long as they can build a good deep visor to cover enough of the windshield, it’ll be great. I’m thrilled that Pererbilt basically combined the two designs to give drivers all the comfort of the 579 with the style of a 389! @@crandonborth so you claim one air bag for the lift and one less driveaxel is more advanced then a tandem with two driveaxels? nonsens, here in the northen europe even some timber trucks have 6x2 even tho the load is almost 2x more then in the US because we can lift the tag and spread some sand while you guys but on your chains in anger just admit it you guys are stuck in the 70s ohh i remember now we already tag lifts back then to! And syncronized "transmissions"
@IndigenousAmericanTrucker7 ай бұрын
Oh, yes, we can definitely see the difference between the two trucks from right there where you are standing, lol! Well, at least I can, anyway! That damn cab and windshield is the major difference, and that widened hood with the shrunken or skinny air cleaners, which I understand being as though they widened the hood! I'm not there yet with the 589! It hasn't grown on me, and probably won't, due to the interior! However, let me finish watching this video so I can see if there's anything different in this one. Maybe they ordered it differently. Who knows!

@@Silas_cv1 : the 379 is the most sought after truck in history. I’ve had 8 of them in my life. I have a 93 sitting next to the barn that’s going in this spring for a full overhaul. That will probably be my last truck.

Six analog guages at the secondary dash and a fully digital main dash? Why not go digital all the way on the secondary dash with unlimited sensors attachable to the secondary panel? Customization becomes way easier!

I want the 589 over the 389. It looks more quiet and comfortable to operate. Heavy Haul 589 is what I am ordering
@sowhatnow722410 ай бұрын
Probably been said already but it’s an aluminum cab and hood. Same aluminum cab Peterbilt has used since 2012 on 579s and 567s. Sleeper is the same structure as the 389 with a different interior unique to the 589.
@thomaskirk93414 ай бұрын
I'm a daycab heavy hauler, and for a sizeable guy (a bit over 6'6" and 216lbs) the 589 is a much better, more comfortable choice.

It depends on the manufacture most of the have thousands of options when your getting the truck built there are standard builds and there are custom options that the big mega carriers dont order because they are ording huondeds or thousands of trucks and they want just the basic truck or standard truck to save asuch money as they can but you have to ask about the build and what you want on your truck theres optioons that you will never see on a megafleet truck out there🙂

The 589 has a one-piece curved windshield that is slanted, the cab looks as if all of the panels are bonded on (no visible rivets anywhere, except the hood), and the door handles are also different.

I love the split windshield with a visor , it just looks so cool and classic. It's a real shame they're gone. I like them on cars as well, but they went away decades ago. Much prefer the older truck, ja.

I am a die hard Kenworth guy, i love my 900"s, but having said that, a Peterbilt 389 is also a very nice truck. What i will give Peterbilt alot of credit here for is the fact they did atleast keep somewhat of the classic look alive. Unlike Kenworth and their God awful 990.
