Hi Francesca. Great video, lots of variety and I’m glad that someone helped you with the pronunciation of Rhyncostylis. It’s a beautiful orchid and one I’ve often been tempted to buy. I’ve been growing orchids for nearly 25 years along with my regular houseplants. I recently started growing some Hoyas and have now put a plant buying ban on myself, that was after I placed the last order (of course).

I'm more of a Hoya-person but I do have 2 orchids and a jewel orchid. I also love monstera, Alocasia and philodendron. You going out to plantshops or thriftingshops sound like fun to watch

To give you a bit of pronounciation hand--rhynchostylis is pronounced "ring-ko-style-is". Hope this helps. I currently have 28 orchids of various kinds. I absolutely love them. I also have 80 houseplants of various kinds. A lot of them are common plants that I've had for many years. I never really jumped on the more "rare" plant bandwagon.

I think one of the nice things about coming into a new genus without a lot of prior knowledge is that you really get to choose based on what you love rather than what's "trendy" or "rare" - that being said, my taste went straight to a hard-to-care-of orchid so I'll be holding off on that for noe

Hi 💫 I have recently acquired an Alocasia Polly from my friend who was just not loving this plant and I left in Leca (I’m a Pon girl myself) but since being in my care it’s pushing out its 2nd new leaf and both are larger than I when I received it. Would it hurt it terribly to switch it to Pon or should I just leave it because it seems so happy? I think I’ve found a new love with Alocasia and want a Frydek as well. 🤗 Enjoy the rest of your week. 🙏🏻💫

You do what feels best to you, but personally I would wait until there are corms and then put those corms into pon - that way you can start to grow in the substrate you want without upsetting what seems to be a happy plant :) Good luck!

Do you sterilize your Leca before using it?

Personally I don't, I do wash it though. I haven't had an issue so far but I do not have a lot of plants solely in LECA and am just really getting into experimenting more with it
