Thank you! As one who has been designing plastic parts in Creo and now Fusion 360 for many years, I think your criticism of the tools is spot on. It's awesome to see things like this starting to emerge though. Fusion 360 will no doubt be improving these tools in days to come. They will become a huge time saver as they evolve into polished tools. Too bad you have to pay extra for them. However, as a professional the time savings could be worth it in the end.

Agree! I know they will evolve into something great. There were a few updates recently. I did a follow up video for those not using these tools and have a new plastic series starting now that doesn't use these tools. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZqyi4Gfnb50ppY And soon I am working on a series that we program a script to build a "template" of sorts for draft, wall thickness etc.

Awsome thax ! I keep discovering new features thx to you. Are drafts so important even in 3 printing ?
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign 2 жыл бұрын
Patrice, they are really only important for molded parts. Injection molding, blow molding, casting etc. It prevents the parts from "locking" into a mold when they start to cool. On 3d printed parts the angles are only really critical if you are trying to print without support material and you can support a specific angle. For example on a boat hull you can likely print a hull without support as long as the angle is steep enough. If you think about a sail boat with a deep Keel(i think its called) that is near vertical and transitions to a wider shape, that would be more difficult without support. Strictly talking about FFF/FDM style printers. With SLS or something else where its self supported all bets are off!

I wonder if this could be used for die casting design too? Lots of similarities in design philosophy between that and injection molding.

I can't see why not. I think many of the quick tools like snaps and things wouldn't be super helpful, but the general design rules should be fine.

Wilson, I create content for Autodesks website which is a bit more beginner based with slower pace and more exploration of tools. I did create an Intro to Fusion series in 2020 that hasn't really been seen. Here is the playlist. This was meant as a basic intro. kzbin.info/aero/PLBDfGh8A8kXXArhsr4lj9zBo66HqRdryf Also if you go to the Autodesk website and look for Fusion 360 content most of it was created by me so if you like my style you will find some good resources there. www.autodesk.com/learning I did 2 drone courses for Autodesk, one of them is on Coursera but was done in 2017, another was done under the "Airgineers" competition and still is on the autodesk site. If drone design(just based on your name) is what you are after let me know and maybe I can create a new series in the near future!

Can't find the Setup menu where you set the ABS roules or is that not available in the free version of Fusion360?

Hi Niklas, I do believe that extensions are only available for EDU and Commercial license holders sadly. www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/personal if you scroll down on the right hand side you can se Generative Design, Extensions and some other tools like simulation are not in the personal/hobby license.

How can I make the surface coating on the plastic part? And is it visible in the slicing program?
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign 11 ай бұрын
Im not sure what you mean by coating. Are you talking about a texture? There is no texture option in Fusion right now. You can apply appearances that have texture but that isn't going to translate over to a slicing program. A lot of slicers do have options to add texture at the mesh level to a part.

Hi I got a question I´m making an animal like structure with surface modelling but I never added the rules before modelling, can I add them later before using the thickness tool or do I need to remake the model and parts to use this tools?
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign
@LearnEverythingAboutDesign Жыл бұрын
by Rules do you mean the parameters for controlling dimensions? Yes you can add them at any time and even go back and relink sketch and feature dimensions to them. Parameters in Fusion are not history based so they exist in the design.
