omg ok so as a kid I didn't play explorers of sky. I only had time and back then I thought memories returned was the saddest song in the explorers series. It made me ugly cry and upon recent replays I would still tear up. I'm a grown ass adult now and for all of my childhood I thought after grovyle sacrificed himself that was it for him and celeb since we aren't given any reason to believe the player isn't the only one saved from the erased timeline. Grovyle was dead to me. I later discovered the special episodes and learned that I could finally know what played out after his return to the future. This shit rocked me emotionally on levels I could not fathom. I genuinely had to put my DS down and just listen to this beautiful track. There's so many emotions here, success, melancholy, longing, impending tearful goodbyes... Trouble just holding celeb in his arms as they both slowly withered away, something she has wanted for so long, only for it to be the last thing she would ever experience. Man this game... fuck... I'll admit it I actually did start sobbing. And the ending when grovyle and co. we're saved by arceus, not only did that not feel cheap, there was still that sense of happiness but incompleteness. It can only be assumed the player is still under the impression grovyle is gone for good which is sad, but it's that sort of longing for closure that makes the entire ordeal more impactful. oh yeah forgot to say amazing cover, sorry to gush I just love this game.

He isn't really gone he just prefers to live their in the future it was once darkness yes but Dialga then changed it so sun would shine once more and it did help to keep em there due to the fabric of space.

i try to make this one more grand and expressive than the previous version. I show this to a couple of friends (Dialga and Gamer ofthewinds) on discord. Gamer asks to record the woodwinds. so the woodwinds part may be off a bit due to last minute changes I implemented.

0:55 This is the only part that I would change if I had the skills, because it starts a buildup but immediately cuts to what’s being built. So I would either let the piano flow in a little bit more and then slowly build up or start grand and continue grand. The rest sounds awesome
