I have a Polestar 2 first edition for 3 1/2 years now. Would possibly consider this if the twin motor was £55k. At these prices I’ll be buying elsewhere. Even to replace my P2 would cost £59k at the moment, crazy! Polestar have lost the plot with pricing, I can’t see them selling loads.

Brands are just changing things for the sake of changing and some design options are just baffling. No rear window has a lot of drawbacks and it even gives more light in a darker back seat. They go to the trouble of adding a huge button in the centre of the console, and it just changes volume??? Why? Not to talk about the missing physical controls for crucial functions!

Test if you get the annoying LED flicker from the rear view camera. This has been the biggest issue with the camera for mirrors on HGVs that have them. 🤠

Camera don’t fails lol. Had polestar 2 for many years not a single failure in a camera. Also have a Tesla 3 2019. 5 years soon. Not a single camera failure either in this one.

FOr those who own EVs here, how is the maintenance like? There's so much more electronics compared to an old combustion car, so does that mean repairs will cost more / take longer? How about after the 10 year mark, will maintenance costs snowball just like combustion cars?

I have a Model Y. After 30K : nothibg to do. A friend changed his first brakes after 150k because he did not use them enough. It is a relief to not worry about inspections and so on. I had one issue with a rubber seal at the door. Tesla came to my home, changed it and they drove away with me noticing it

I have a model Y since 2 years, it has been very reliable. Did nothing to it except changing the tires after 15k kms. The original Model Y tires are pretty low end. I had a first gen BMW i3 for 7 years before that and it had a couple minor hiccups but nothing major. After 9 years of EV ownership, I would only consider owning a Tesla now as other manufacturers charging infrastructure is a joke, not reliable at all. Plus Tesla has the best value and is extremely practical.

@@steveny9972 Tesla can get away with using smaller batteries as they have better driving efficiency and no range anxiety due to a reliable supercharger network. This save weight and space in the boot. Compare the 100kwh battery of this polestar to the 77kwh battery of a Model Y. Smaller battery also makes the car cheaper.

From a safety perspective, the dependence on the touch screen, lack of physical controls and rear window make this car potentially very unsafe should the touchscreen or cameras stop working. Calling it a crossover or SUV is also a falsehood - its a coupe.

Google assistant is very good, you dont need to touch the screen at all, just ask the car to do stuff for you and 95%+ of the time it works just the way you want it to

Would be nice to understand a bit more on the battery architecture and buildup on EV reviews - what voltage it uses and composition, if there are any differnece sbetween packages and if there are what advantages/disadvantages each has. Also the side fo car said 400kW rather than suggested 200kW, not sure which is correct here?

These EVs are killing the re-sale market, see, when you buy a petrol car with high mileage you don't think about how many times the previous owner refilled the car...but with an EV, you BETTER watch that, cause the fast chargers kill the battery faster, and the amount of cycles too. you can repair a fuel pump/tank pretty much anywhere, you wont be able to change the entire battery pack when it's dead for cheap believe me.

They aren't that the whole problem. Also, good luck selling a used EV, since the battery degrades pretty fast if you don't follow the 20-80% rule...and even if you follow it, it will still degrade.

Charging at home is very cheap. Also less maintenance for some manufacturers. Some electric cars are pretty cheap too. Not all battery degrades badly if you take care of them, there are plenty of Teslas going strong in the 300k-500k kms range... EVs also offer a better driving experience...

It's funny that you mention the numbering for Polestar. 💈⭐1 - Never seen one nor have I ever seen one for sale in the UK. And it's not even on their website. 💈⭐2 - Seems to be the only car we can currently buy to drive today in the UK. 💈⭐3 - Available in the UK from September to October 2024. 💈⭐4 - The car here. Available in the UK from August. _So begs the question. How come the 💈⭐4 is going to be available in the UK earlier than then 💈⭐3 will be?* Or do Swedes have a different numbering system to the rest of the world? _"Ett (Eller inget!), två, fyra, tre..."_ And I dread to think what order the next set of numbers are going to be in!? 8-\\... You have a 360 degree camera for parking. Most rear windows of SUVS are so high up and tiny you wont see the hood of the car behind you anyways when reversing. Not an issue at all. Camera is better even.

Instant no. Video feeds instead of rear mirrors are awful. It results in you having to constantly adjust your focus when flipping from looking out on the distant road to looking to at a video feed 30cm from your face. It's crazy how car manufacturers who spend millions on these designs completely miss basic ergonomics

The pricing is just a scam. In Australia, yes the base model is cheaper than the competitors but it has nothing in the car that you want/need. So you have to add extra options and the price quickly adds up more than the competitors. Given that Polestar is still a new-ish brand, I think if they want to sell more cars then they should make it cheaper or give more instead of making the features an option extra.

And also my friends Taycan have bern in the shop for air suspension issues and when i rode my friends macan s , there were legit rattles and squeaks everywhere. 360 miles claimed range is just a lie - 94kWh useable means it'll need to maintain 3.83miles per kWh to achieve this - you know it'll do more like 3miles per Kwh meaning 282 miles max...and that's in warm conditions!

Well it goes hand in hand. You need a powerful drivetrain to be able to have better regenerative braking which makes the car more efficient therefore having a longer range.
