Remember the purpose of health insurance is to provide a profit to the companies, their investors and CEOs. Time and again these stories show that the patient is not a priority. Politicians will not interfere because of the insurance lobby.

The U.S. healthcare system... It never fails to disappoint! But the profit margins are massive.

They did the same thing with eye/brow lifts. As women age their eyebrows tend thin, sometimes considerably. This is generally not the case for men, whose brows get thicker, but if you need a brow or lid lift because sagging is affecting your field of vision, insurance will only cover it if the scars are on top of your eyebrows where they are completely visible and disfiguring for women. My field of vision was reduced by 60% and i needed a lift. This is a medical condition. The alternative is to put the scars at your hairline, but in that case its coded as cosmetic surgery and is not covered at all. I am fortunate that i could afford the hairline option but it was nearly $6k out of pocket. Just another example of misogyny in medicine.

This is another attempt toward Universal healthcare. Which comes with an increase of taxes to 40-60% income tax. U.S already has their own universal healthcare Medicaid/Medicare.

When America gets fed up of a business based healthcare system rather than a serviced based healthcare system like every other industrialized country, more limitations will come down. As a stage IV breast cancer thriver who underwent diep surgery, this is infuriating. Insurance company lobbyists in bed with public representatives are to blame.

Hopefully this comment doesn't get shadow banned. Health insurance is a shared cost. To cover this elective procedure would mean increase in health coverage. Breast reconstruction is just another form of Breast augmentation. It's still an elective surgery. Using someone's own tissue for augmentation is fine, if they didn't have cancer. Going through treatment weakens the body's ability to heal. Rita Davis is in remission, cancer can come back. She's using her cancer experience to get a tummy tuck, like augmentation is an elective surgery0. Dr. Potter she's a yound docotre trying to build her practice. Health insurance is a shared cost. To cover this elective procedure would mean increase in health coverage. Using black ppl to push an agenda, again. A push for Universal Healthcare. It also requires more money from taxpayers like 40-60% income tax, a rate fimilar to other countries that have Universal Healthcare or as we know it here in the U.S Medicaid/Medicare.
