NEW Porsche Panamera Turbo S 2021 - First Drive Review!

This is the new 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S! The new Panamera Turbo S replaces the current Turbo, uprading the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 from 542bhp to near 630hp.
Torque is also increased by 37 lb ft to 605 lb ft. The result is 0-60mph time of 3.0sec! The top speed rises from 190 to 196mph for the new flagship. It’s also claimed to have set a new Nürburgring lap record for executive cars at 7:29:81, faster even than the Audi R8 V10 Plus supercar!

John Does the panamera only has a regular combustion engine so after the 0-60 is where the turbo slaps that Tesla and the taycan a true competitor to the model s actually is faster. The Porsche’s also have much better quality than the tesla

Great review, as a late model Panamera Turbo driver, you nailed it. The only gap in your report is on the Burmester system, which along with performance is the most amazing sound system in the world(21 speaker setup in Panamera specifically). Cheers.

The only thing I don’t like about this car is there’s something wrong with the wheels or ride height. I can’t pinpoint what it is but either the wheels are too small or not pushed out far enough or it sits too high or maybe it’s the design of the wheels or the shape of the arches, makes it look all wrong. I didn’t have this problem with the last one. It looks fine when it’s moving but not when stationery.

the 971 (G1) turbo s had 680, with its hybrid system. so technically they didn’t go up 80hp, they went down with 50hp. i also think the 2018 had a more beautiful rear end.

It's a little thing but I like that the car doesn't have a single forward sensor in the grille, the older cars had a big sensor that looked a bit like a supermarket security camera, this has two, one on each side, and they look more discreet, like lights.

Horsepower to weight ratio is the same like AMG GT63 S but Panamera turbo s has more torque. Strangely, it is almost 2 seconds slower in Nurburgring. Could be driver factor?

That more sideways camera angle actually walks miles when it comes to conveying how fast the car accelerates with launch control as you can see how all the vegetation etc outside of the car goes blurry in no time at all

The reason I ask is per your point on how good these tyres are alongside the car tech, is there an argument that one doesn’t need winter tyres anymore? Just watching the review of this car as I type. If the driving conditions are icy or snowy, you need winter tires. There's no two ways about it. No amount of traction control, ABS or 4WD is going to create more friction between the tire and the road surface.

Crazy performance when you consider the class, the more I think about it the crazier it seems! The aesthetics of the exterior are still such a disappointment from Porsche however, and on this example I have to be honest and say, aside from the revolting interior colour, it looks a tad cheap and plastic along the lines of a 996. Also, I never understood why they made a mistake with the Panamera and had the tunnel through the rear seats, essentially making it less practical than offerings from BMW & Mercedes. Most people needing 2 seats, need them due to kids, and 2 kids fit great in the back of a 911! (how often does one have full size adults in the back of the car?)
