Great walkthrough. This helped a lot during my install. I noticed your hood bracket ball faces inward, but the instructions on mine and other videos say to face out. Initially I followed your video without looking at the instructions. The ball facing in caused the struts to rub the plastic tub, and wouldn't close properly.
@EVKiwis2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! This is a new version of the bracket in which the balls are actually meant to face inwards. I even specifically got this confirmed with Hansshow. As far as I'm aware, all other videos on KZbin at the moment are based on the older versions of the kit which have a different design bracket in which the ball faces outwards. So it's interesting how this worked better for you swapping it to face outwards if you have exactly the same kit... Glad you got it all working in the end though! 🙂

Thanks for the discount code, I have a 2022 with the 15.5v positive terminal, I followed your every step, the frunk close perfectly, but when I put the cover back on, it would not close all the way, and after hours of troubleshooting, I decided to put the factory brackets back on and it close perfectly with the cover, not sure what's going there. I ordered the made in USA version due to the bracket picture shown on their website.

Could you please try completely tightening the black hood alignment adjuster screws as shown here: drive.google.com/file/d/1U3-DJ5mvcpHQCndtI09-7sJY6UXUvvyA/view?usp=sharing. This should reduce the gap so hopefully that will make it close all the way. Otherwise you can try contact Hansshow through their support link and they would be able to diagnose the issue for you. I tried pulling on the emergency latch and it did not do anything, and tried jumping the 12v cables and still nothing, so right now I'm dead in the water, frunk is closed and there's no way for me to open it, I'm in contact right now with Hannshow, not sure what they can do, but any suggestion before I bring it to tesla so they can take it apart, and I'm well aware of the void warranty. FYI everything in the car works just fine, everything is normal, just had a software update today too.

@@badgambit7332 Oh wow that's so strange! This is the first time I've heard of something like this happening. What did Hansshow have to say about this? I'm quite interested in learning more about their after sales support. I'm sorry I can't be of much help as seems like there is not much info on this issue on the internet. All I know is the emergency latch cable only works if the control box is not receiving any current from the 12V battery. This is a feature to prevent people breaking into your frunk using the emergency cable. The jumping of the 12v cables should still have worked though. I hope you have made some progress on this but keep me updated with how it goes...
@badgambit73322 жыл бұрын
@@EVKiwis Here's the update/solution. So I've tried everything including the 12v cables and the emergency pull rope, which hannshow said is not to unlock the frunk, it's to unlock the suction lock, what ever that mean. So of course I've reached out to hannshow and they think that one of the connectors might be loose, which I think it's highly unlikely because as you know every connector you make clipped on and to disconnect it you'll have to pull the lever up then out to disconnect. So they told me to try and work my way from the bottom up to find the loose switch for the unlock motor, how am I going to do that, I have no clue. I waited thru the weekend to bring the car to my friend's shop on Monday, so he can put it on the lift and see what we can do. On Monday morning when I was about to go to his shop, I tried one more time to open the frunk, and guess what? it opened. That's not the weird part, when I got it opened I want to make sure it's working properly, so I open and close with the app and the screen in the car, it was working fine and on the 5th or 6th attempt, it stop working again, frustrated I went inside for a few hours and came back out and try it 1 more time and it opened. This time I left it open and in 20 min I took the whole kit out and restore it to factory. I contacted Hannshow about return the product but I'm getting the silence treatment right now, all of the sudden they stop responding to me. I'm not worried, I'll give them a few more days then I'll report them to the BBB.

Installing mods like these doesn’t exactly void the warranty on the car as that would be a violation of the law. Two things that make me hesitant to order your kit is the potential danger the frunk could open while driving due to malfunction etc. I had this happen years ago when I did not shut the bonnet properly. Great video, bery well detailed but did you put a manual oppener in the tow hole where anyone can just open the frunk? Is that manual opener really nevessary? Doesn’t the tow hole already has a way rto open the frunk in case of battery running out?
@EVKiwis2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! That emergency cable is meant to go in the tow hole as per the manufacturer's instructions but don't worry as it would only open the frunk if the 12V battery has completely died. If the latch is receiving current from the 12V battery, this manual release cable won't do anything ensuring no one can break into your frunk. It is not necessary to have this cable as you are right that you can open the frunk using the existing battery terminal connections in this tow hole. However, for that you would still need to have an external battery source to activate this. So the manual cable makes the process easier. Hope this helps 😊

The $20 is just a gas lift which means when you open the frunk, it does automatically lift up through a gas lift mechanism. However, you still have to close it manually. This one is completely electric which means it both opens and closes with a click of a button. Quite a bit of price difference though so definitely all comes down to how much you value the auto close functionality...
