I bring some alcohol swabs (like what people clean their skin with before an injection) and if I’m feeling queasy after a ride, I tear one open and smell the alcohol. It’s an old nursing trick for nauseous patients in the hospital and it helps a lot.

Previous Skipper here, the reason why Jungle Cruise is not open for extra hours (morning or evening) is because of the boats: they’re real boats, and very expensive to run, so the ride only operates during regular park hours (disclaimer that this was the reason back in 2018, things may have changed since then)

Ahoy there! As a former Able-Bodied Seaman on the Jungle Cruise, I can't help but chuckle (though it's a tad disheartening) at the engine compartment's design flaws. It's akin to working within a cramped compartment; if your tools or hardware slip from your grasp, well, you might as well wish them luck on their journey to the abyss/the bilge. But what really irks me is the lack of barnacles on the hull. It robs me of that authentic seafaring feel and a bit of my hard-earned pay. I'll be having a chat with the captain on our next voyage!
@Therealwojo
@Therealwojo Ай бұрын
Oh! I have a question for you. We went for the first time last year and I made sure to sit right next to the skipper, so I could hear all the jokes. I don't know if the speakers were bad or too loud, but I had a hard time hearing everything. So, my question is are there some positions better than others on the boat to hear all the funnies?

You know you are becoming “classic” when a cast member quickly runs up to help you out of the car on Space Mountain (and I graciously accepted the help as I knew they would be able to get me out to the car faster than I could by myself!!)

Thank you! My daughter doesn’t get why I refuse to ride rollercoasters anymore. I’m okay with stuff like Big Thunder Railroad and Slinky. But Guardians made me ill. Space Mountain IS painful. I’m 68 and went to Disney World last October for our 50th wedding Anniversary. As I was riding Space Mountain my neck starting hurting from the whipping around and I had to hold my neck. Getting off, the pain was quite sharp. It’s gotten better but it continues to hurt to this day. My Dr says it gave me whiplash. Beware, Ride at your own risk! But the way, I LOVED Velocicoaster! It was scary but very smooth!

I think the increased crowds during the so-called off-season is because parents realize that after covid it's more than okay for their kids to miss a few days of school and be totally fine. In fact, I think now they prefer it so that they don't have to go during a heavy crowd.

It's not even entirely that. Kids in charter and private schools aren't even rometly on the same schedules as public. My niece gets 2 weeks off throughout the year at her (my brother and sister in law) choice. There's a school on my route (ups driver) that's 3 weeks one week off. Off June. 2 weeks on in July and December. Last couple of times at Disney has felt like "so kids aren't even in school anymore" 😅

You know what -- that makes a lot of sense. I read an article recently that noted that elementary school absences are up by significant percentages since before covid and I bet that's a big reason why.

I love the people mover! When my daughter was little, it helped her calm down when she was overwhelmed. We would sit, and she would hold her Pluto, and let the breeze and the soothing voice of the announcer, relax us. At home, Whenever we encountered a stressful situation, she’d say, I need to ride the people mover. Or it’s a people mover kind of day. ❤

4:58 it’s actually the middle of the train that provides the most “equilibrium” The front of the train has the same effects as the back, just in reverse. So instead of being pulled down the hill, you’re pushed up, and when going around turns you have the momentum of the train pushing you through that may cause jerking. Towards the middle, you have equal push/pull, and not as tough on the body.

As for shorts under dresses and skirts I /highly/ recommend linen shorts or culottes. It’s really warm for synthetic fabric shorts. Linen shorts or culottes will prevent chafe and keep you cool, they’re breathable and comfortable! I did this on my last trip and I was so comfortable.

I like to wear my just below knee length, A line, denim skirt. It's long enough to stay between me and any seat, short enough to allow air circulation, heavy enough not to fly up, light enough to allow movement, dark enough to hide spills and it doesn't cling or become see-through in the rain.

Many many years ago, I ended up doing a 12 day DW vacation in a wheelchair and a walking boot. When we got to Space Mtn was almost my downfall. When it came time to get out of the rocket my walking boot was stuck and jammed into the rocket. The 3 other people in my group tried to pull the boot out, but it was a nice CM who was the most i nstrumentin getting me out of the rocket. Space Mtn is one of my favorite rides but I figured it was best not to get in that rocket again.

I'm in my mid-60s, obese, so getting in and out of the rides is so hard now. And I'm a solo traveler so I'm on my own unless a CM notices and helps. I'm pretty sure my Space Mountain Days are over. Too rough. And I've never liked Mission Space since it first opened, but I ride everything else and only have a touch of nausea on a couple of the rides. I train for the dizziness/nausea by spinning around every day a month or two before my trip, upping the duration and speed as time goes on. I start out by turning around on my feet and 5 rotations is about all I can handle when I first start, but by trip time, I am spinning around as fast as I can in my desk chair.

But I have been fine on other rides.

I had dessert envy, once. In 50's Prime Time cafe, the people next to my mom and I had what I call a "Death by Chocolate" giant s'more. It was a giant chocolate graham cracker, one giant Hershey candy bar, about 10 marshmallows, another giant chocolate graham cracker and Hershey's chocolate syrup was drizzled over the top. I'm not allowed to have chocolate, and that dessert was looking really good! It looked better than the cheesecake that my mom and I ordered

I remember when the restaurant "Be Our Guest" was popular, we tried forever to get reservations with no luck. Finally after losing out on one that suddenly popped up, while we were at the airport, we scored a 6:30pm seating. We were late to our reservation by about an hour, and apologized profusely. To our amazement we got a seat right beside the large ballroom window, with the snow falling. It was nice because we didn't have people walking all around us like the tables in the center.

This is just a suggestion from someone who has never been to ANY Disney Parks before. But maybe Disney Parks should add little trackers to those Magic Wristband thingies. For every member of your group with a wrist band you scan it and it will keep track of wherever they are on the Disney park property if you were to be seperated from them. Cast members can still help in the event of the occassional low battery or signal issue with onsite computers tapped into a security wifi and to alert eachother to help prevent any potential kidnappings if the tracker shows they are being lead to places in the park that they shouldn't go to. Also this could help in the tracking of the mischievous visitors who end up going missing halfway through a ride thus lowering risks of liability for the parks.

I want to make a slight correction on the portion about car rentals, It's USB-A ports, not type B. Type B is what you'll normally find on older printers from about a decade+ ago, while Type A are the ones we see everywhere, like computer ports, old phone chargers, etc. I'm only pointing this out so others don't get confused if they don't know what you're trying to refer to.

Welp, better enjoy Mission: Space’s orange mission now before I get old, lol. Also: Last time I was at WDW, I had LL for Expedition Everest, only for it to break down. My phone let me know and also immediately gave me a choice between moving my LL for later that day (assuming the ride got back up) or picking from a selection of other rides. I appreciated getting those options though, instead of just “Well sorry, guess you won’t get LL, too bad for you” Another time when I was at Rise during early park hours, we were all the way in the Star Destroyer when the ride broke down. The officers got semi-nice (still pretty in character, love those guys) and offered everyone LLs for later. I had a small sketchbook with me so I toughed it out, and it was up running not long afterward! Glad I made that call. At one point a BUNCH of people in our group left. I think some of them thought they had to, and then the people next to them were like “Oh, is everyone leaving? Guess we gotta leave” and just followed them out. Glad I double checked with the officers that I didn’t have to go, along with the guy standing next to me in line, lol.

I first rode Space Mountain in 1989, my first Disney trip. It was jerky back then too and I got to where I only road it if it was a walk on. Back then October and September had a lot of weeks with very low crowds, so I rode it quite a lot. Now that I'm 74 I don't bother. I ride every other ride there is in every park and still, thankfully, have no issues. Blessed with great health and mobility. My new favorite is Guardians of the Galaxy, but I'm looking forward to trying Tron in September if I can snag a virtual pass. BTW, I love your channel! You are always so upbeat and friendly! Over the years I have learned a lot from you and I thank you for all you do!

I got to ride Remy’s in EPCOT 3x’s in one day due to sticking it out and checking a box on my list. First ride: it stopped working but I toughed it out and it opened. Second ride: got off from first ride and got back on because there was no line because cast members at the front of France were telling people it was still not working. Third ride: while on second ride, it broke down but I was at the last part before you get off (checked the box of being on a ride when it breaks and taken off by cast members). Of course I was given a lightning lane and used it later for my third ride of the day. 🙌🏻🤣

I’m about to turn 67 & I do solo trips. I love Cosmic Rewind. The vehicles aren’t low set, so they are easier to get in & out. Plus, it is a side by side seating, so you have someone with you to help you stand, if you need it. Tron has a seated option at the back of some cars, instead of the cycle shaped ones.

This is so helpful! I realized my tolerance for roller coasters went wayyy down at only 22. I can still enjoy the tamer ones but I do need to focus on my breathing so I don’t get nauseous. Slinky Dog Dash is where it’s at for me these days but I can also handle BTMR and space mountain if I’m feeling up for it.

I noticed Universal has Test Seats for their rides. Does Disney offer Test Seats for things like Space Mountain or other rides that might be difficult to get in and out of? I'm 6'4" and 300 pounds, so those Universal Test Seats were really helpful.

We just went. It’s great and all but they really need to do something about rides breaking down. We tried to rope drop rise of the resistance and it was broken, seemed to ruin the day for everyone as the lines on the other rides were insane since the best ride was broken. Same thing happened in Epcot where ratatouille broke down.

I feel like I have a grift with finding those random weeks of low crowds. My last 2 trips were during peak seasons (Holiday and Summer) and both times I’ve picked the week very carefully and crowds have been low! I think the longest wait on each trip was 1 hour each for RoR on one trip and FOP on the other. Most waits were 20-30 minutes.

I'm turning 33 years old next month & my main fear of going to WDW for the first time this year is that my body can't handle certain rides anymore. Especially rough or spinning rides 🥴 I did a spinning one with my 6-year-old recently & I about nearly died, was so sick 🤣 Great tips for the table service meals! 👌 I am worried about our trip weather for Sept. I was wondering if the week from Sept 8th to 15th or 14th to 21st is better, or it doesn't matter as Sept is lower crowds regardless? Great video, thank you!!

First timer here! We just got back from our first visit at 40 years old, just two adults, no kids. We can’t believe how much we loved it! Unpopular opinion- would not pay to return to Epcot or Magic! Would gladly move into Hollywood Studios and just live in the Star Wars area!!! Omg I can’t believe how genius the Rise ride is! We also really loved Animal kingdom. I will say, crowds were low enough at the first of may to ride all the rides more than once!!

On crowds, many more are not working in offices now, so can visit the parks at any time or to "work from home". Also more adults are visiting and are nor restricted by school schedules. On the Spring Break lull, i think that coincided with AP bkackout dates?

Space Mountain...oooohhhh boy. I went on it during MNSSHP last year & I was so excited. My son loves Space Mountain & I was excitedly telling him that during MNSS they completely black out the ride. My husband overheard, stopped, looked at me and straight up told us he was not going on it - he said it was going to be awful in total darkness. I kind of scoffed and went ahead without him. Well...Space Mountain is rough as it is, but in absolute pitch black darkness? My husband was 100% correct. I tried anticipating the rides direction. I thought we were going to go up, we went down instead and I ended up pulling something in my neck/back. The rest of the week was BRUTAL. We just got back from another WDW trip a couple of weeks ago and I completely skipped SM. I honestly don't know if I'll ever go on it again.

The first time my mom and I went to Disney World was in 2003. We were super fine then. We went again in 2013. A bit... less fine. We had to have a rest day and napped in the afternoon on a few days. Now we're going again this year in September, and I'm super worried about how we'll handle it! We went to Disneyland last year (we didn't want to skip our 10-year Disney trip family tradition, but we opted for the parks closer to home, as we live on the West coast), and it was rough. Guess we need to prep for Disney trips just like one preps for a marathon! We're planning to have one rest day in our upcoming trip and hope that'll be enough.

Off topic a little bit, but do you have any idea why the hours that are being released for the middle of June are so short for all 4 parks? Animal Kingdom is showing 9:00 - 6:00. We are going in June because of school schedules. Everything we read is that yes, it is crowded, hot, and rainy, but at least it is offset somewhat by longer park hours. I saw longer hours on the schedule for a slow week last week than the middle of June. Anybody have any insight?
