Beautiful, and from a very interesting and fascinating period in history, which saw many developments in weapons. Thanks for sharing 👍

Meanwhile I'm looking at the beautiful blade and thinking hey that would be really sweet for a shiavona... well at least it's Venice! Per Il Doge! thx Nathan

A schiavona is just an arming sword with a basket

The reproduction can be said to be a single fullered blade, but the original has three. The flanking fullers have the same width and depth as the centre one. In the reproduction, their width and depth are distinctly different from the centre one.
@armsarmorinc.4153Ай бұрын
Hello. The reproduction actually does have the two short fullers as well, the steel being shinier just makes it harder to see. They're actually a little wider than the central fuller, and the same depth.

I think this sword would be good for Joachim Meyer's Rappier techniques. The sword in his books looks something like that with the addition of a knuckle bow.
@armsarmorinc.4153Ай бұрын
Yes, it would work OK for Meyer for sure, though it predates that style by a century - but could have been great-grandpa's sword! This is the sword we make that I really associate with Meyer: www.arms-n-armor.com/collections/rapier/products/serenissima-rapier

excellent work! what`s the width of the root and tip of the sword? It looks almost unchanged.

That is a great and cool looking sword...if I had the extra cash, I would love one with a brown leather grip, or a wire wrapped grip.
@armsarmorinc.4153Ай бұрын
That would look great. We considered wire wrap as it is the right time and place for the style.

a little light on the bevel widths
@armsarmorinc.4153Ай бұрын
Yes, they turned out a little bit narrow on that prototype piece. We do it all by hand so they do vary a little bit.
@raphlvlogs271Ай бұрын
why are the ends of the cross guard rounded and widened just like the pommel?
@armsarmorinc.4153Ай бұрын
It's all just part of the aesthetic.

Gotta drive 30 km to pick up some half-inch bar and some 2 by 4 to reinforce my cutting stand. Wife wants me to pick up a couple litres of milk and maybe a pound of butter.
