Thanks for the detailed clear explanation of how the product works. I have wondered for years why no one had ever come up with such a sound box or device that could add some operating sounds and realistic background charm to what is otherwise a mundane sound experience of a railroad scene. I really think your onto something cool to give the model layout some color and character.

I was just starting to look for a sound device for my FreeMo module. the module is called Crow Mountain and I want to incorporate a push button when pushed it will make sounds of crows cawing.

Unsure if a computer is needed to upload music. It would really be helpful if you did a step by step video starting with the actual wiring to various devices you are using. I would buy it if you could show the step by step process

The Sound Controller comes with four sounds; two are different crossing bells. If you want to load your own sounds you need a computer. We will have an instructional video shortly. The Sound Controller by itself is very simple and the manual has lots of pictures.

When you say “record” your own sounds, does that mean the unit records acoustically? Or what?

You have to use a recording device like your phone, the computer, etc to create an MP3 files. Then you upload that file to the sound module.

In your sample layout..Say your train is long enough it does not clear the 1st sensor..What happins when it trips the 2nd sensor?

The first sensor trips the soundtrack that is set to play once. After it plays, that's it until the train clears that sensor at which point it resets and can again trigger a new interrupt. Otherwise it just sits there. The second sensor is able to interrupt the background and turn on the bell because sensor 1/sound one is "dormant".

Everything we sell is independent of the track so it doesn't matter DC or DCC.

99% of our customer are not using a computer for anything on their layout and have no plan to do so. And how would you trigger the computer to play the sounds? All of a sudden you have complexity. And programming. And expense. Some people like to do that - I for one. But that is not the design goal of this product. Thanks for the comment.

The sound coming from the speaker, that is enclosed in a baffle, is surprisingly loud - approximately the volume of your cell phone on speaker mode at its loudest; maybe a bit more than that depending on your phone. However, the unit is Not waterproof so it needs to be inside a structure of some kind.
